COMPANY OVERVIEW Johnsons Coaches were founded in 1909 by Mr JG Johnson with just a horse and cart trotting up and down the Stratford Road with both stock and passengers. At that time the company was based within the town of Henley in Arden. In 1999, the company moved to a custom built site just outside Henley in Arden, and now has a fleet of over 100 vehicles.

Our facilities has a main office, a large car park and a four bay workshop which is solely used to service our range of coaches and buses to the highest standard, rigorously inspected by our

engineers on a rolling six week basis. All bookings and quotations are handled and processed quickly and efficiently by our booking team using our computer based Coach Hire Manager system. This provides the client with accurate booking and agreement information so that each Coach Hire is carried out exactly as requested.

As a leading Coach Hire company in the West Midlands, we strive to give our customers the very best in products and services which the industry has to offer. For this reason, all our vehicles are cleaned and prepared to the highest standard by our valeting team and they are driven by qualified, uniformed

and professional drivers. All our drivers have annual CPC training and hold the now mandatory CPC qualification. This means that they hold nationally recognised qualification for their skills. Not only can our drivers drive to the best standards, we only enrol drivers if they can demonstrate a ‘can-do’ positive attitude, making our driving team one of the friendliest and most helpful.

OUR HISTORY Established in 1909, Johnsons Coaches has been a family business for over 100 years. Now in its third generation of family ownership with the fourth generation working in the business as well.

In the 1920s, Mr JG Johnson swapped his horse for his first motorised vehicle and the company set up its office and depot in Henley High Street.

In the 1930s, the business passed to Phil Johnson who ran the company up until his sudden death in 1966 - at this time the company was still very small, operating 2 lorries, 4 coaches and an old taxi. In 1979 Peter and John Johnson (the current owners) joined the family business. Better coaches were purchased and Johnsons ran its first holidays and excursions in 1981 and of course coach hire became a prominent part of the success of the business.

In 1999, the company moved from Henley High Street to a mile down the road; with bigger and better facilities, it enabled the company to grow to what it is today.

OUR FLEET Our large fleet of 45 modern air conditioned vehicles provide you with the highest standards of comfort, reliability and safety. We have coaches to suit every occasion and size of group.

Executive Coaches Our 49 and 53 seat executive coaches are great for large groups and offer full onboard facilities complete with onboard toilet, washroom, DVD player, hot drinks facilities, climate control air conditioning, reclining seats and tinted windows.

Wheelchair Accessible Coaches We have two 53 seat wheelchair accessible coaches which each have space for 2 wheelchairs onboard.

Larger Executive Coaches If you are looking to hire a coach for a larger group, then we have 63 seat extra-long 3 axle executive coaches. These are the perfect solution for when you need comfortable and convenient travel for larger groups. They also work out more economical, as most often you would have to hire two separate coaches for a large group.

Midi Coaches Our midi coaches are popular with small or medium sized groups.

We have 30 seat and 35 seat midi coaches that come with air conditioning, reclining seats, PA and music systems and great luggage space.

Mini Coaches For coach hire for smaller groups, our 16 seat and 20 seat mini coaches are the ideal choice. These stylish mini coaches have been built bespoke to Johnsons with reduced seating capacity for a more spacious and comfortable seating environment with extra legroom.

Minibuses Our 7 seat minibuses are a great choice for executive transfers and days out for small groups.

They are air-conditioned and also have excellent legroom and luggage capacity.

USB Charging Ports Many of our vehicles now have these on board – just request it at the time of booking.

SAFETY

OUR DRIVERS Our reputation for knowledgeable, friendly, highly skilled drivers is something we are very proud of at Johnsons. Our uniformed drivers are the people our customers meet face to face and are therefore the ‘face’ of our business.

We select staff on the basis of their performance within a standardised interview and skill-based assessment programme. Drivers can only work for us upon the completion of health and CRB checks, having engaged in an assessment day and whether they complete aptitude tests in

the following areas: geography and map reading test, a Highway Code test and a practical PCV driving assessment. They also have to show and give us examples of when they have displayed a ‘can do’ attitude and past customer service experience is always a bonus.

Once a driver is on board with us, they have annual CPC training and hold the now mandatory CPC qualification. This means that they hold a nationally recognised qualification for their skills.

Your safety is our priority. We are proud members of the Guild of British Coach Operators, which represents the UK’s top coach companies. Membership is only open to coach operators who can demonstrate the highest standards in their operations, and we have been members since 2003.

We are also Coach Marque accredited; the only universally recognised kite mark of quality in the UK coach industry.

Both the Guild and Coach Marque are concerned with all aspects of the business including health and safety, training standards, legal requirement and fleet maintenance.

Plus, a biannual independent audit requires a 100% pass rate meaning that the business and fleet are performing at the highest levels in the industry.

Yes, we are fully insured with Allianz our Policy Number is CV/24871513/12 & CV/13937399/12

Are your drivers CRB checked?

All our drivers are carefully selected and have been checked with the Criminal Records Bureau.

The majority are members of the Institute of Advanced Drivers.

Do you provide risk assessments for schools?

Yes, we have a standard risk assessment for school transport.

What support do you offer in the event of a breakdown?

We provide full support for customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

What are your disabled facilities?

We have two 53 seat wheelchair accessible coaches which can each be adapted to cater for two wheelchairs each. In order to accommodate the wheelchairs, four seats will be removed for each wheelchair. This will provide space for one wheelchair and 49 passengers, or two wheelchairs and 45 other passengers on the coach. Our new wheelchair lift at the rear of the coach will ensure a safe and smooth boarding of the coach.

What group sizes do you cater for?

Johnsons have a large, air conditioned fleet of coaches.

We offer hire from groups as small as 7 and our largest coaches offer 63 seats.

Who is the best person to contact to make a coach hire booking?

Please contact our Private Hire Team - they are always available between 8am and 5.30pm.
