Holiday Itinerary

Friday On arrival in London, we will make our way to one of London’s most iconic landmarks, the View from the Shard It is the tallest building in Western Europe soaring 244 metres and 72 floors above the Capital. Twice the height of any other viewing platform in London, it offers unparalleled 360-degree views of up to 40 miles across the city. The viewing platforms are on floors 68, 69 and 72 and offer interactive touchscreen telescopes to explore London in more intriguing detail. After our visit we will check into our hotel.

Saturday After breakfast we enjoy a scenic Thames River Cruise from Westminster/London Eye downstream to the Tower of London. Next, we visit the Tower of London, an infamous prison which has also served as an armoury, a treasury, a menagerie, a public record office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of England.

Sunday Enjoy a leisurely drive into Lincolnshire’s ‘Bomber Country’ –this beautiful area is stacked with aviation history. We visit the Bomber Command Centre – a world class facility that serves as a point of recognition and remembrance for Bomber Command. From here we continue to our hotel arriving in time for dinner and our overnight stay. After dinner, sit back and listen as we pay tribute to Dame Vera Lynn. Performed by Lorrie Brown who is the UK No.1 Vera Lynn tribute performer. Lorrie has performed her show all around the country in theatres and 1940’s festivals. She will perform many of Vera Lynn’s greatest hits including ‘A Nightingale Sang in Leicester Square’, ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’, and of course ‘We’ll Meet Again’. Lorrie’s beautiful voice and presentation takes the audience back to the days of classic melodies and beautiful words.

Monday This morning, we visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, where you can view the exhibitions and enjoy a guided tour of the hangar where these historic aeroplanes are meticulously maintained. We continue to the delightful village of Woodhall Spa to see the Dambuster’s 617 Squadron Memorial before departing homewards.

On this Great Break to East Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, we can discover two of the region’s great centres. Nestled in the Fen countryside is the small city of Ely, full of charm and home to one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. Meanwhile, a visit to Norfolk offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of busy Britain, with the coast and countryside offer areas of outstanding beauty.

Friday Travelling east, we visit Ely. The Cathedral here is a top tourist attraction and it is easy to see why. Look in awe and wonder at this 12th century building. Other popular attractions you may wish to visit include the Stained-Glass Museum in the South Triforium of Ely Cathedral, Oliver Cromwell’s House and Ely Museum. We continue in the afternoon to our hotel in Norwich, arriving in time for dinner and our 2-night stay. Saturday After breakfast we drive into Norwich. The city’s character is spread around steep little alleyways and old cobbled streets. The best, between Market Place and the River Wensum, are marketed as the Norwich Lanes. Explore cobbled ‘Elm Hill’, with its half-timbered Tudor houses and antique shops.

Sunday Departing our hotel we discover the enchanting landscape of the Norfolk Broads on a cruise with live commentary along the Wroxham Broad. Then spend some time exploring Wroxham Barns, eighteenth century restored barns containing shops selling local produce, arts & crafts and clothing before returning home in the early evening.
