Steps to Perform When Your QuickBooks Has Stopped Working

Common factors leading to the QuickBooks pos freezes error are –
1. The Windows OS files are not running correctly, and they might be damaged or corrupted.
2. The sectors on your system’s hard disk are either damaged or corrupted.
3. Essential QuickBooks files, like the QBWUSER.INI file, which are needed to run QuickBooks, are missing or accidentally deleted.
4. QuickBooks Desktop installation files aren’t running correctly, and they might be damaged.
5. Your QuickBooks company file name isn’t as per the criteria and contains special characters.
If your QB closes with no error, you can use the solutions given below to rectify it –
Step 1 – Scan your System’s Hard Disk and Repair the Bad Sectors
1. If your hard disk is not running correctly, you can run a scan to eliminate the QuickBooks won’t open issue.
2. Click Windows + E to open Windows File Manager and go to the C drive.
3. Right-click on the C drive and select Properties to click on the Check Now option.
4. Checkmark the Automatically fix system errors and Scan to attempt recovery of bad sectors options to initiate the scan process.
5. Let the scan process run, and once done, perform a system restart and rerun QuickBooks to check if the issue is eradicated.
You can fix the issues with your QB installation files by running the QuickBooks tool hub and using the diagnostic tool.
1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub utility from Intuit’s site and follow the onscreen instructions to install it on your PC.
2. Open the tool hub and select the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool from the Installation Issues tab.
3. Run the tool to identify and fix the installation problems causing your QB to shut down.
4. Once the diagnostic tool stops running, rerun the QuickBooks Desktop program and check if the freezing issue is eliminated.
