The College is thrilled to announce our Year 7 Student Councillors for 2023. Elected by their peers were (L to R): Olivia Elwick, Olivia McGarr and Felix Steinwandel.

Each student councillor plays a very important role at John Curtin College of the Arts. They represent both the students and the wider College community and play an important role in bridging the communication gap between staff and students.

If you have something you would like to raise then please speak to your councillors. They will bring your concern to the student council meeting. It may not always get actioned, but it is important that your voice is heard.

At JC our student councillors are concerned with more than just the price of a cheesy. Last year they were heavily involved in the discussion around assessments. This led to changes in the transition to high school for you this year. You may have noticed in most courses that the first assessment task you completed was closer to the end of Term 1. This is because students felt that in Year 7 more time was needed to be spent on helping students understand how learning is assessed in high school and completing practice assessments for feedback.
