The Lester Prize

Congratulations to Year 8 student Audrey Crogan, winner of the Lester Prize, Youth Prize in the Year 7-8 category for her self portrait Courage in the greatest danger.

The Lester Prize is one of the country’s most recognised and prestigious fine art prizes –an award that places artists and community proudly front-and-center.

The judges complimented Audrey Crogan’s ‘masterful’ and ‘confident’ use of graphite pencil in her work Courage in the greatest danger. They remarked on her ability to find ways to be expressive yet controlled in her application. They loved the use of hair as a motif, and the powerful pose which sees the subject stare back at the viewer. Fantastic work Audrey!
