Fremantle Eisteddfod

Congratulations to our music students and the Brass Quintet who competed in the Fremantle Eisteddfod throughout May! A number of John Curtin students were prize winners, special mention to Y12 student Blake (classical guitar) and Y9 student Patrick (Tuba) who were invited to perform at the Senior Winners Concert on June 10 in the Government House Ballroom. Patrick took home 1st place Brass AMEB grade 5, 1st place Brass AMEB grade 6 and 1st place under 18 Brass making him the overall wind winner for the whole competition! Well done Patrick!

OPUS Concert

Wind Orchestra 1 and select Brass students of the IMSS Brass Ensemble Project, performed at the OPUS showcase on Monday 26 June in the Perth Concert Hall! Since 1974, the Instrumental Music School Services have presented an annual concert of outstanding instrumental and choral music from public school students. This year, John Curtin’s Wind Orchestra 1 will combine with Bob Hawke College, while select brass students will join brass students from other public schools, to represent the John Curtin music department at OPUS.
