Principal Travis Vladich Term Two Recap
As I ponder and reflect on the term that was, I am looking out my office window as students scurry to and from the Curtin Theatre with amps and an array of instruments, closely followed by teachers and staff with lists and smiles. It is the last day of term, which for many has seemed like a long one but in this moment the JC vibe continues. There is a buzz around the college this morning and it is not the fact that we are about to have two weeks of holidays, it is that there is another exciting event about to happen - Battle of the Bands 2023.

Shortly the theatre will be filled with 400 people for period three, followed by 400 will be there for period four and so on.
The same story could be said for all the events that have occurred this term. Whether they be performances, matches, camps, excursions, clubs, competitions, carnivals or guest speakers. All these events contribute strongly to the vibe of this place, cementing our culture and bringing us together.
None of this would be possible without the dedication and passion of our fantastic staff, the commitment and motivation of you students and the support of parents and the community. It is clear that what makes JCCA a successful school is the people in it. This term’s edition of Curtin Calls is testament to that statement.
I would like to also share with you the news that Mitchell Mackay has been appointed as the Principal of Perth Modern School on a permanent basis.
As you know Mitch has been connected to this College for the past 16 years. He has led the school through a significant period of growth and improvement, and he has created a warm and supportive learning environment for students.
I know that this has been a difficult decision for Mitch, as he is very attached to our school community. On behalf of everyone at JCCA and in particular those families that have come and gone and remain connected to, I have passed on our gratitude for his dedication and leadership. He has made a significant contribution to our culture, and we are grateful for his service.
We would like to give you the opportunity to send a message of thanks to Mitch, which we will compile and give to him as a collective message of appreciation from us all. Please send any message you would like to contribute to socials@jc.wa.edu.au
