July 9, 2012 To: All JCCHS Students From: Mr. Hopper Re: Orientation schedule I hope all of you are enjoying your summer vacation. We are working hard to prepare for your return. I want to welcome all the new students to John Carroll Catholic High School. To the returning students, I want to say welcome back for another great year. Please observe the schedule on the reverse side of this letter for the first two days of orientation. Only freshmen and sophomores come on Monday, August 20, and only juniors and seniors come on Tuesday, August 21. The first full day of school for all students is Wednesday, August 22. Please be sure to check our website at www.johncarrollhigh.com for the most current information regarding dress code, calendar dates, and other important facts. Required school supplies and materials will be discussed on the orientation days. Please be on the lookout for a separate letter detailing our cafeteria paperless payment system. For those of you who are interested in athletics, you may download all athletic forms through our school’s website. Remember, physicals are a yearly requirement for all athletes. Incoming freshmen must also provide evidence of vision and hearing screenings. It is with great enthusiasm that I approach the new school year as your principal. I realize that there are many challenges ahead, but I am confident that if we are true to our mission, determined to succeed, and committed to our faith, we will play a vital role in your development as responsible young adults. Sincerely,

Ben C. Hopper, Principal SPECIAL NOTE: The Sunshine Uniform salespeople will be on our campus Saturday, August 4, from noon until 3:00 PM. For those who have not taken care of buying the uniform shirts, this opportunity will allow you to pick up shirts in person. You will be able to try the shirts on if you desire. See the website www.sunshineuniforms.com for additional information.

John Carroll High School 2012-2013 Parent Volunteer Decision Sheet

VOLUNTEERING HELPS KEEP YOU CONNECTED.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to stay connected with John Carroll and your student. We encourage every parent to get involved throughout the school year. Several volunteer opportunities are listed below, but you are welcome to propose other avenues for earning your hours. Please complete the following form, marking areas of interest, and return it to John Carroll by August 31st.

HOW MANY SERVICE HOURS DO YOU NEED?

If you pay for your son’s or daughter’s tuition twice a year, you are required to complete 5 service hours per year; if you pay tuition monthly, you must do 10 service hours per year. It is required that 5 of the volunteer hours be completed the first semester of school. If you pay your student’s tuition in full, you are not required to do service hours, although we strongly encourage you to get involved. Parents will be responsible for recording their service hours online through a new portal that will utilize the same password system as MyStudentProgress. com. Information will be presented at Back to School Night regarding how to log information, check the status of your hours, etc. For additional information or questions, please contact Jennifer Trefelner at JenniferTrefelner@johnCarrollHigh.com or visit www.JohnCarrollHigh.com.

PLEASE SUBMIT SERVICE HOURS ONLINE

Simply visit the JCHS website and find the link that says “Submit Service Hours Online.” Next, log in with your school ID and password. Once logged in, you will be able to submit new hours by clicking ADD VOLUNTEER HOURS, selecting the appropriate school year, and completing the necessary information. You can also log in at any time to check the total service hours submitted to date rather than having to call the office to see if you are getting close to meeting your annual requirement. We hope you enjoy this new interactive feature and feel it will be a convenient service for parents. Student Information (Please print legibly!): Student’s name:
