Layered as they are with far-flung influences, the ‘wow factor’ for these celebrations is walking off the plane, or the approach itself. Whether low country Spanish moss swaying in the breeze, the first glimpse of a mountain panorama on the horizon, or encountering a foreign language, destination weddings are often invested in for the escape surrounding the wedding itself.
YOU’LL BE INSPIRED IF… You are always passport-ready. You know where (and when) your wine comes from. You crave something different. You have a family history of travel. Taylor Sutton & Blake Sadau
ESCONDIDO GOLF CLUB | HORSESHOE BAY
The wedding was as dreamy as the couple’s beginning. Having met while studying abroad in Italy, Taylor Sutton and Blake Sadau were inspired by their meet-cute to create a day centered around Mediterranean influences. Branching Out Events created an exquisite floral arch at the end of the wedding aisle where Taylor would meet Blake for the first time. The evening was as FUN as it was beautiful which was important to the newlyweds.

Lauren Bailey & Mack Prioleau
VAIL INTERFAITH CHAPEL | FOUR SEASONS RESORT VAIL
Mack Prioleau awaited his bride as he gazed over the sweeping views atop Vail Mountain. Lauren Bailey walked toward her groom on this peak to share a special and intimate first look moment. After six years of dating they were finally about to become husband and wife. To conclude the ceremony, the guests lined up outside the chapel and tossed rose petals on the newlyweds! Bare Root Flora adorned the reception space and a six-tier cake symbolized the six years they had been together. Instead of a groom’s cake, Mack opted for an ice sculpture espresso martini bar - the perfect night cap to wrap up a stunning evening.

LARKSPUR VAIL | FOUR SEASONS RESORT VAIL
Caroline and Daniel wished for their wedding to be elegant and intimate, with their family and faith rooted in all the details. Their ceremony was held in an opening that overlooked a majestic mountain range. It was a blissfully breathtaking view for the guests to take in as they applauded the new Mr. and Mrs. Merrill! After the ceremony, the couple and their guests made their way to the Four Seasons Resort Vail to partake in an evening of wedding celebrations. Plum Sage Floral adorned the space with warm sophisticated blooms that respected the natural beauty of the outdoors. Fresh s’mores were offered to the guests as a nightcap before a grand confetti-filled exit was orchestrated for Caroline and Daniel.

Brighton Keller & Duncan Butler
OMNI BARTON CREEK | AUSTIN, TEXAS

Brighton & Duncan
For Brighton Keller, a wedding day meant sweeping Austin views, four bridal gowns, and a grand Second Line exit as an ode to the bride’s Louisiana roots. Upon getting ready, the bridesmaids had their first look at Brighton on a stunning overlook on the property. Brighton and Duncan’s first look followed and their shock and awe was a favorite moment to remember! The ceremony itself meant a great deal to the couple and this was reflected in the emotion of the ceremony. Brighton worked with the lovely and professional Barbara Shorts of Verve Event Planning to coordinate her Austin wedding weekend. Mimicking the style of the venue, the reception aesthetic was relaxed, yet sophisticated, with a touch of Texan flair. To cap the evening and commemorate Brighton’s Louisiana roots, the couple led the Second Line into a sea of sparklers— an epic ending to a wedding day we have to say was a total #SlamDunc.

Kate Latham & Alex Perry
HORSESHOE BAY YACHT CLUB
The sun washed Kate & Alex’s wedding ceremony in golden light overlooking the water of Horseshoe Bay. Dapper guests in black tie admired the bride in her classic matte silk Mikado ballgown, with buttons that ran the full length of the train behind her. After the two were pronounced husband and wife, the reception coordinated by Pearl Events of Austin continued al fresco on the adjacent lawn. Cocktails were served by the docks and the bay, and dancing commenced under strung café lights. In lieu of cake, pastries from Blue Bonnet Café were served, an ode to their Hill Country favorite. A golf cart getaway through a tunnel of sparklers was the final act for the #partywiththeperrys.

Mary Holbrook & Tyler Johnson
OCEAN FOREST GOLF CLUB | SEA ISLAND, GEORGIA

Mary & Tyler
Mary grew up visiting Sea Island, so it was a special place for her and Tyler to say “I do.” The intimate affair gave way to countless unique and personal touches beyond just the venue. The bride wore a Mark Ingram Collection gown and met Tyler for the first time wedding day at the Avenue of the Oaks overhung with Spanish Moss before meeting each other again at the altar. The couple took vows in front of idyllic swaying palm trees, ocean views, and a cross made of green moss and oyster shells. The scene was a picturesque vision of Southern tradition. Britt Wood Designs set a whimsical, lush table on the patio at Ocean Forest Golf Club for the evening. The intimate, candlelit dinner allowed for memorable toasts amongst many clinked glasses and laughter from all. The couple cut the Key Lime flavored wedding cake and enjoyed desserts topped with sparklers before being whisked away in an open convertible which drove off on a sparkler-lined driveway.

WEDDING PLANNERS WE LOVE in our FAVORITE PLACES
We were recently asked by an inquiring mother-of-the-bride, “What makes a wedding memorable?” What immediately came to my mind was a sense of place to go back to, and the freedom from worry to be able to create lifelong memories. We posed the same question to a few of our favorite wedding planners whom we frequently work alongside, while posing them in some of our all-time favorite venues in Dallas:

The Adolphus Hotel
Arlington Hall Brook Hollow Golf Club
Dallas Country Club Dallas Museum of Art
Four Seasons Resort & Club Dallas Hotel Crescent Court
Nasher Sculpture Center
The Joule Hotel
The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

Anything that makes it unique to the bride and groom! Escort cards in the shape of the bride’s beloved pet. A custom putting green for the groom that loves to golf. An espresso bar, because the first place you met was at a coffee shop. Your guests are there to celebrate YOU. Make it fun and personal!”

Appealing to ALL senses enhances every element, especially surprises. When planning details try to impact all five— sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound.
A surprise! Keep guests on their toes and treat them with unique, unexpected experiences throughout your wedding day. Whether it’s a gospel choir at your ceremony, a firework send-off or a silent disco after party… Make it a memorable day by putting extra effort into fun surprises that add to your guest experience.”

There are many details that play into making a wedding memorable, but those that initially come to mind are hosting in a unique locale, incorporating personal and cultural touches throughout, engaging entertainment, and a relaxed couple and their parents who truly live in the moment and enjoy the day as it unfolds.”

Mackenzie Martin and Joshua Cook celebrated their marriage with a luxurious party full of deep lush colors at The Joule.
I don’t believe in just following ‘rules’ or checking the boxes that are typically assumed for weddings. I think a memorable wedding is one that is uniquely your style and more focused on what fits you and your life. The guests’ experience takes them away from a day of ordinary life to celebrate with you and the ones you love.”

Lauren Thompson married Billy Bailey at Brook Hollow Golf Club with a menu inspired by the couple’s favorite places.
I think what makes a wedding memorable is the couple and how unique they are! Some of my favorite details have been transforming a room into the Polo Lounge from the Beverly Hills Hotel which was the bride’s favorite bar, and renting a Jurassic Park Jeep because it was the groom’s favorite movie! The more their personality shines through, the better and the more fun for their loved ones that are there celebrating with them!”

A lovely soirée lined with boxwood topiaries at Arlington Hall was the perfect setting for Ashley Anderson to say “I do” to Daniel Pond. Weddings are memorable when the experience for your guests is seamless. If you have a team of professionals who are ready to tackle each obstacle as it arises, you and your loved ones will never realize anything is out of place. For you as a couple, a memorable wedding is one that allows you to have peace of mind. To trust in the process and to know that you’ve made knowledgeable decisions along the way that have led to a spectacular result.”

I think the most memorable weddings are planned when we lean into the art of hospitality. Let’s plan with the guest perspective in mind! My goal is to make the guests feel welcomed and cared for as soon as they walk into the venue. Let’s wow them with the sound, smell, and feel of the room. Let’s keep surprising them with personal details throughout the evening to keep them on their toes. When the focus is on the guests, a wedding will absolutely be memorable!”

As a guest, what makes a wedding memorable? What first comes to mind is the ceremony message that will guide the newlyweds throughout their marriage. Watching a groom see his bride for the first time is also a very special moment. A great band also makes the evening memorable. It’s fun seeing a packed dancefloor with friends of the newlyweds celebrating together.”

The personal details that create a through line throughout the planning process. The details that brides have thought so much about and have spent so much time curating— the monogram, the flower detail, the color palette, whatever it may be, but I really feel like the details make memories that last a lifetime, and are carried on through their married life.”

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and take a creative risk or two to do something unconventional! Most of the weddings our clients and their guests still rave about today are the ones that were very personal. The best part is that you can still be creative and execute the details in a meaningful, classy way!”

At this Fort Worth fête, guests were first invited to a cocktail hour at home before being swept away to the party.

While the ambience, food and music are all important and contribute to the overall guest experience, it’s really about curating an event that is unique and specific to the couple. Whether it’s little nods to their personalities, their favorite things, or where they met. It’s the small, heartfelt details… the ones that tug at your heartstrings and tie it all together. That is what makes a memorable event.”

Looking Forward
We cannot wait to celebrate with our 2021 couples. There is only so much that we can preview before their big day but you can imagine how much we are waiting with bated breath for each of these fantastic events. Just as our couples eagerly await their special days, we too dream of each one days and months ahead of time. We cannot wait to see (and capture) their finished gowns and unique complete looks, the celebrations, the toasts and libations, each entrance and the awe of their guests, the pop of champagne and the roar of applause as newlyweds hit the dancefloor, followed by words from dads that tug on the heartstrings, each specialty cocktail poured, every thoughtful menu served, the cake commemoratively cut, the return of the packed dancefloor, and the waves goodbye after the departure in the getaway car.

Here is a preview of where 2021 is taking us, and what’s to come in our next annual feature.
