dogwood reincarnation | summer 2019 this tree was the victim of a dogwood borer moth infestation. rather than remove the tree, i sought to strip it of its bark and examine the specific structure of this plant.

after identifying the core structure of the tree, i eliminated the extraneous pieces, drilled holes along the remaining branches, and wove sailing rope through the plant to mimic the volumentric shape determined in the drawing above.

abandoned architecture | summer 2018 - present a study of texture, light, and color in the ever increasing number of abandoned, lost, and decaying buildings. abandoned structures harness a sense of connection to a space that once was.

ocean breeze | summer 2020 after photographing curtains on a windy day at the beach, i recreated this movement by aligning four sets of sheer panels and observed them as they reacted to the natural breeze. i then identifed specific features of movement to create a static space mimicking the natural flow of the wind.

two orientation space

room raum rum | harvard gsd design discovery | reworked spring 2020 this project follows a three step process: 1. begin with a scaled drawing of an object or space, 2. abstract the object 3. create a space functional on two different orientations

i began the project by drawing sections of a 3d wooden puzzle and extrapolated the following shapes and spaces.

inspired from the predominent triangular features of the object, i created an isometric drawing with hatching lines. the following model was derived from the above drawing to create a three dimensional space with two different levels.

focusing on the main form of the object, i created a layered sequence. this pattern led to the design of a displaced and layered form that allows for interaction throughout the entire structure. this space can be utilized on two different orientations.
