Samsung and Seaborg Plan Molten Salt Floating Nuclear Power Barges

Power barges using molten salt nuclear reactors will be docked in industrial ports and can used to produce Power-2 fuels (Seaborg)

THE MARITIME EXECUTIVE April 7, 2022 South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries is forming a partnership with Seaborg, a Danish start-up pursuing next-generation nuclear technologies, and together they plan to develop floating nuclear power plant barges using Compact Molten Salt Reactor technology developed by Seaborg. They believe the CMSR barges can be commercialized as an efficient power source in response to climate change and also can be harnessed to power the green production of hydrogen and ammonia.
