New The LaRouche Organization Documentary:
‘The Revival of the American System with Chinese Characteristics’ Rick Sanders On August 17, 2021 The LaRouche Organization published a new feature documentary entitled “The Revival of the American System with Chinese Characteristics,” which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2ZphDsTFRc The documentary is a contribution to getting the United States to join with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and finally break with the British-centered system of geopolitics. The video demonstrates how this is not simply the right thing to do, but that the BRI is based on the same principles at the foundation of what is known historically as the ‘American System’. If the U.S. were to reject the BRI, it would be rejecting its own historical identity. The video opens with the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, which was important in spreading the American System around the globe. It shows various examples of this— among other places in China—and how the British Empire maneuvered to shut down this existential threat to their maritime-dominated control over world events by playing all the participating nations out against each other in the conflict that became known as World War I. Next, it shows the revival of the American System, beginning with the work of Sun Yatsen, the founder of modern China, and how, after the destructiveness of World War II, the Chinese Civil War and the Cultural Revolution, the torch was taken up by Deng Xiaoping, who, at least implicitly, put Sun’s vision for China back on the agenda, and China began to develop into a modern, industrial nation. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Lyndon and Helga LaRouche begin a campaign for the Eurasian Landbridge, and coin the term ‘the New Silk Road’. This program, based on the ideas of Henry C. Carey and the American System, was adopted by the Chinese leadership, and is seen today in the spreading success of the Belt and Road Initiative.
