THE ESCALATION OF THE WAR ON CO2 PART 1 of 3 Thorpe Watson April 26, 2021 Carbon dioxide ("CO2", aka "carbon emission") is as important as oxygen, water, and sunlight in sustaining life on the planet. It is stored primarily in the oceans with 2% circulating through the atmosphere as a colourless. odourless, trace gas.

A most disturbing trend is identified in the following figure. It suggests that we are approaching the end of the Earth's 'green period', which started about 2 billion years ago.

This figure reveals the ongoing, alarming loss of CO2 since the dinosaur era, decreasing from a CO2-fertile atmosphere of 2,500 ppm to the current CO2-starved atmosphere of 416 ppm.

We are now at a dangerous tipping point, a "survival threshold for vegetation"! Plant growth rates decrease very rapidly to zero as the CO2 level decreases from 500 ppm to 150 ppm. Also, a plant's resistance to drought decreases with a decreasing CO2 level.

Rather than cherishing CO2 and allowing our carbon emissions to enrich the atmosphere, prominent people continue to vilify this gas of life as a threat to mankind. John Kerry, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, made the following televised statement on April 22, 2021.

"Even if we get to net zero, we still have to get carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. So this is a bigger challenge than a lot of people have really grabbed onto yet."

Unless saner heads prevail to stop this unwarranted war on CO2, the collapse of western economies is inevitable. This radical decarbonization/degrowth agenda is an outrageous attack not only on human progress but also on life itself, both plant and animal life.

Many governments in North America and Europe are determined to remove CO2 from the atmosphere claiming it is causing a climate crisis. Nothing could be further from the truth. These are blatant government falsehoods. The beauty of plant, animal and human life goes away when the government takes CO2 out of the atmosphere, claiming a man-made global warming crisis.
