President Eisenhower, “Atoms for Peace”
Why did we miss the boat?
What have we done by allowing politics and media to discredit nuclear energy technology over the past 50 years while saving millions of lives through radiation treatments? It is an embarrassment to our country whose ingenuity developed the nuclear age. President Eisenhower defined the nuclear age in 1953. His “Atoms for Peace” speech was delivered to the United Nations on December 8, 1953. Eisenhower spelled out the necessity of re-purposing existing nuclear weapons technology to peaceful ends “it must be humanity's goal to discover the way by which the miraculous inventiveness of man shall not be dedicated to his death, but consecrated to his life.”
Government and the industry worldwide must rebrand President Eisenhower’s message “Atoms for Peace”
