The Importance of Energy Policy in the American election in November 2020 John Shanahan August 11, 2020 Since getting to know Donald R. Riley, nuclear power pioneer, in 1990, I learned a lot about how our government has acted since the 1970s with regards to energy policy. Energy from fossil fuels and nuclear power is the backbone of the American economy and prosperity. Don's father was in charge of the world's largest coal fired power plant in the early 1940s in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Don was a leader for development of advanced nuclear power. American Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Obama's Science Advisor, John Holdren and others worked hard to stop advanced nuclear power, the most important energy for the long term future. They prevented America and much of the rest of the world from having the greatest amount of clean energy the world will ever have - all the available uranium and thorium. If this policy of stopping use of advanced nuclear power remains in effect, it will be one of the greatest crimes against humanity ever. That along with their policies of stopping use of fossil fuels will cause billions to suffer and die, great harm to the environment, loss of wildlife habitat and slaughter of birds and bats by wind turbines. Birds of prey control rodents. Bats control insects. Other birds killed by wind turbines are magnificent examples of beauty in nature. The American election of November 2020 will decide if the USA will continue to have energy from fossil fuels and nuclear power or revert to long-abandoned, extremely dilute, variable, unreliable wind turbines and solar panels that destroy the environment and can't meet the needs of the modern world. The decision of this election will determine the continued existence of freedom and democracy of this country and others that depend on it. Freedom, democracy, and a strong economy will never run on wind turbines and solar panels. Advocates for a large central government (one-worldgovernment) claim the world must run on wind turbines and solar panels. The lives of millions in the USA, billions of people around the world depend on the American election of November 2020. America must lead the fight against anti-fossil fuels and anti-nuclear power radical extremists. If America does nothing, just accepts alarmism, riots and promises that big government can solve all your problems, the world will suffer terribly. Freedom isn't free! A great medical pulmonary specialist and writer about America is Dr. Ronald Cherry in Sweetwater, Tennessee. See his essays, click here. For a great poem about the American military by a US Marine in WWII, click here. I thank Dr. John D. Dunn in Brownwood, Texas for introducing me to Dr. Cherry.
