How dare you Marty Cornell September 30, 2019 Your glorification of a pig-tailed teen-aged “savant” as the fount of wisdom on “anthropogenic-induced climate change” is the height of irresponsible journalism. Her prescription would especially hit hard the poor who can ill-afford higher energy costs; this is already the growing lot of many in England and Germany who must choose between heat and eat. And it would condemn the third world to energy poverty and perpetuate their malnourished existence for their lack of abundant, reliable, and affordable energy provided by fossil fuels, features wind and solar cannot provide. Of course, “climate change is not a hoax.” The climate is always changing, so no scientist would contest that. The hoax is the claim that man has its hand on the global control knob, a hypothesis not shared by many leading scientists nor supported by empirical data. Before you spout “majority-consensus” you should check the provenance of that claim. The real crisis is the multi-trillion-dollar alarmist action proposed against a natural phenomenon. Action that will have no material impact on climate. Those, like you, who spout “scientists agree”, “climate change naysayers”, “the problem…the need for action” and other such mantra are either ignorant and/or have an agenda far beyond any trivial warming caused by a doubling of atmospheric CO2. The evidence in your case points toward the former. Yes, the earth has warmed about 1OC since about 1880, half of this before 1950 when CO2 levels began to rise. Causation correlation between warmth and CO2 has not been established. But the benefits of both have decreased climate-related mortality and fertilized plant growth, increasing food production. Looking behind cherry-picked presentations such as those of the National Climate Assessment, we find no increased incidence of intense hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, drought, or sea level rise rate. And there have been no documented incidents of climate-related extinctions. Polar bears are thriving. Man’s activities do change local climates; one only needs to drive from the Brazoria County countryside to the heat island of Houston to experience an upward shift of couple degrees centigrade. The solution to any detrimental effect of changing local climate such as warmer cities is simple: adapt. The issue is not about climate, but rather about a change in world order toward global central control by elites, to the loss of liberty and national independence. Sanders, Warren, AOC, and Guterres, among other, have admitted as such. The complex science of climate is but a useful tool to distort and manipulate toward their objective. And by 1
