HOW TO BUILD WITH WOOD WOOL + CEMENT

Terazzo

Wood wool and cement Flat white terazzo in window nische and shaped acoustics on inner walls.

Colored shaped terazzo surface as facade

Acoustic and moisture absorbent board on inner wall. Terazzo as floor.

Shaped terazzo with different structures as facade elements.

HIGHRISE

Wood wool elements can be applied in highrises with a structure of gluelam or steel. Easy to construct large structures fast and with less labor because of the light weight and less professions involved.

SURFACE AND PATTERN

TERAZZO WITH AND WITHOUT TEXTURE

A shaped surface without the added cement to keep focus on good acoutic and moisture connectivity properties. Suitable for inner wall or acoustic boards. Possible to change the material into differently shaped surfaces. Can also be combined in different patterns when assebemling. Possible to colour.

A new durable surface with visible wood wool in a cement mix. Can be applied to complete wall sections as an air sealing surface on the outside, or as inner wall with good acoustic properties because of it´s uneven surface. Does not require additional coating such as plaster, but is instead true to the material and shows off it´s components. It also means less work on site since the wall element is cast in the factory and transported as a finished product. The terazzo surface can be on either a smooth or shaped surface, on straight or bent wall section.

PROPERTIES CLASSIC BINDER OF CARBON DIOXIDE Calcium hydroxide in cement reacts with carbon dioxide to create limestone, and in that process carbon dioxide is bound in the material. In a wood wool-cement mix the process is much faster than in a regular concrete block, because of it´s porousity, and can in a few years bind up to estimated 70 % of the carbon dioxide released in the process of making the material.

FIRE RESISTANT REI 360 best fire class

EASY TO ASSEMBLE Because of the material´s light weight, large pieces can be assembled fast

MOISTURE ABSORBING EASILY SHAPED The material can be shaped and altered by using a saw SOUND ABSORBING

PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER The wall elements are connected by filling a carved out stripe on top of the elements with cement and reinforcement rods. Surfaces are sealed with plaster.

SEALS THE WALL The wall element need to be sealed for insulating properties, and for protecting the material, normally by cladding with for example plaster. With a terazzo surface, the wall element is sealed already in the process of manufacturing, and does not need additional layers.

WHY REST PRODUCT CEMENT WORK IN WOOD WOOL MIXES CONCRETE BLOCK Substances occuring in rest products can cause cracking when substances swell, which will make the solid concrete block break.

WOOD WOOL BLOCK In a wood wool + cement element, because of its porous web structure, the swelling will not damage the material in any crucial way.

HOW TO MAKE WOOD WOOL/CEMENT ELEMENTS WITH/WITHOUT TERAZZO DRY MIXED WOOD WOOL + CEMENT Wood wool is soaked in water before cement powder is sprinkled until the wood wool is covered

SMOOTH TERAZZO Add wet mixed wood wool + cement in form before adding dry mixed wood wool + cement. Shake and add pressure.

SHAPED TERAZZO Add wet mixed wood wool + cement in form with shaped bottom plate before adding dry mixed wood wool + cement. Shake and add pressure.

WET MIXED WOOD WOOL + CEMENT Wood wool is soaked in water before wet cement is added and mixed with the wood wool

SHAPED NON-TERAZZO Add dry mixed wood wool + cement in form, add shaped top plate. Add pressure.
