ABOUT ME

My name is Johann, I'm a highly motivated, creative, and ambitious person who is passionate about marketing and research. Something that identifies me is my positive mindset and a strong desire to succeed. Therefore I always try to get to the root of a problem by being a problem solver who can put himself in the shoes of somebody else. Furthermore, as a creative person, I consider it extremely important to constantly learn new trends and tactics by applying lifelong learning and staying ahead and relevant in the industry. I hope this portfolio is a representation of my dedication and hard work toward achieving my goals. I hope you can delight yourself while browsing through my journey in marketing and event management.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

During my time at Inholland, I had the opportunity to work on hands-on projects alongside real clients in the field which allowed me to gain experience and get a perspective on the real-life work environment. Throughout this time I was able to deliver valuable and meaningful solutions for companies that were facing real issues on a daily basis. This was possible by first of all, conducting desk and field research to get an indepth understanding of the problem that they were facing and to identify the wishes and needs of the target group by trying to put myself in their shoes by being empathic. Based on the findings from the research I was able to provide the best possible solution to these companies to solve or improve their existing problems.

PROJECT 1

For this school project, I conducted desk and field research alongside my team by using Design Thinking to identify the wishes and needs of the target group and later on develop advantageous solutions for the World Class The Hague program. The aim was to inform students about the latest news in regards to the program as well as to keep them up to date about all important news related to peace and justice in The Hague.

We designed and typed a newsletter for future students and alumni of the program

We included different topics in the newsletter such as a "Did you know" section, internship vacancies among others

We created the marketing strategy to promote the newsletter

PROJECT 2

During my thesis, I conducted research to help Vital Aid Foundation to raise awareness about the services that they provide for free to African immigrant women who had experienced violence and abuse in their lives. Through extensive desk/field research and by reaching out to the right people who could introduce me to the African community I was able to gather key information and later on, be able to interview and test all my ideas with them. Eventually, I was able to deliver a solution to their existing problem by making them familiar with these services through a podcast show that already had a solid builtup audience.

EVENT MANAGEMENT

During my third year at Inholland, I had the opportunity to do a minor in Event Management for 6 months where I got to learn how to analyze an event and to identify gaps in the set-up of an event. Furthermore, I was challenged to organize 2 events on a small scale during the pandemic by myself which included the organization and promotion of the events. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work alongside my team on a project where we had to organize the first virtual workshop for cocktail shaken for New Year's Eve by conducting research, creating different price packages, mood-board, landing pages, an event-script, customer journey, budget, promotional posters for volunteer among others. This minor helped me to improve among others my teamwork, management, and creative skills.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

This invitation card was created as a special request by a friend for her wedding. It was inspired by the wooden contrast of her wedding decoration elements.

I designed the invitation card and a photo frame for the surprise baby shower that I organized with the team of Elite for the Marketing Manager who was expecting her first baby.

I was impressed by Johan’s ability to handle any situation calmly and patiently, even in the toughest times (covid). His input for marketing and events has helped us move forward and remain relevant in an innovative way. Johan is a team-player who can also work independently.
