Le 17 décembre 1994, les « vieux quartiers et fortifications » de la Ville de Luxembourg ont été inscrits sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. Aujourd’hui, le site luxembourgeois fait partie de 1.121 biens classés patrimoine mondial à l’échelle planétaire. Par la suite, la société urbaine et le site du patrimoine mondial se sont développés ensemble dans un processus dynamique et intégratif.

La vision qui guide l’action de l’UNESCO : construire une paix durable entre tous les hommes. Celle-ci ne peut que s’appuyer sur le respect des droits et de la dignité humaine, sur la solidarité intellectuelle et morale de l’humanité, le respect et la mise en valeur du patrimoine culturel, naturel et immatériel.

A l’occasion du 25e anniversaire de l’inscription du site « Luxembourg, vieux quartiers et fortifications », un centre d’accueil UNESCO a ouvert ses portes au Lëtzebuerg City Museum. Les visiteurs y découvrent les aspects les plus importants autour du patrimoine mondial : les origines et l’importance du site, ses caractéristiques et ses critères, sa préservation et son intégration dans le développement urbain.

La présentation illustre non seulement la dimension historique du sujet, mais aussi son importance pour le présent et l’avenir.

Le Visitor Center offre une première orientation pour partir à la découverte du patrimoine urbain classé par l’UNESCO.

Am 17. Dezember 1994 wurden die “Alten Viertel und Befestigungen” der Stadt Luxemburg in die Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes aufgenommen. Heute gehört der Standort Luxemburg zu den 1.121 Objekten, die weltweit zum Weltkulturerbe gehören. In der Folge haben sich die Stadtgesellschaft und das Weltkulturerbe in einem dynamischen und integrativen Prozess gemeinsam entwickelt.

Die Vision, die das Handeln der UNESCO leitet : einen dauerhaften Frieden unter allen Menschen zu schaffen. Dies kann nur auf der Achtung der Menschenrechte und der Menschenwürde, auf der geistigen und moralischen Solidarität der Menschheit und auf der Achtung und Aufwertung des kulturellen, natürlichen und immateriellen Erbes beruhen.

Anlässlich des 25. Jubiläums der Einschreibung des Standorts “Luxemburg, alte Viertel und Festungsanlagen” wurde im Lëtzebuerg City Museum ein UNESCO-Welcome Center eröffnet. Die Besucher können dort die wichtigsten Aspekte des Weltkulturerbe-Standorts entdecken : ihre Entstehung und Bedeutung, ihre Merkmale und Kriterien, ihre Erhaltung und ihre Integration in die Stadtentwicklung. Die Präsentation verdeutlicht nicht nur die historische Dimension des Themas, sondern auch seine Bedeutung für die Gegenwart und Zukunft.

Das Besucherzentrum bietet eine erste Orientierung, um das von der UNESCO klassifizierte städtische Erbe zu entdecken.

On 17 December 1994, the old districts and fortifications of the City of Luxembourg were registert in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Today, the site of Luxembourg is one of 1,121 world heritage sites worldwide. Subsequently, the urban society and the World Heritage site have developed together in a dynamic and integrative process.

The vision that guides UNESCO’s action : to build a lasting peace among all people. This can only be based on respect for human rights and dignity, on the intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity, and on respect for and enhancement of the cultural, natural and intangible heritage.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the site “Luxembourg, old districts and fortifications”, a UNESCO Welcome Centre has opened its doors at the Lëtzebuerg City Museum. Visitors can discover the most important aspects of the World Heritage site : its origins and importance, its characteristics and criteria, its preservation and its integration into the urban development. The presentation illustrates not only the historical dimension of the subject, but also its importance for the present and the future.

The Visitor Center offers a first orientation to discover the UNESCO listed urban heritage.

Le scénographe, calligraphe, designer et peintre Gilles Becker, d’origine luxembourgeoise, qui a créé au printemps 2019 à Vienne « Thyrsos Design » en tant que plateforme pour son travail, ses études et sa pratique liées à la calligraphie historique, moderne et postmoderne, à la gravure et à la peinture sur le livre, a scanné, vectorisé et dessiné partiellement le panorama de Callot et en a réalisé une dizaine de vues, prêtes à être coloriées à loisir. Il a également réalisé un choix de dix vues issues du modèle tri-dimensionnel du Château de Pierre Ernest de Mansfeld et les a préparées pour pouvoir être colorées.

Gilles Becker signe également responsable pour les recherches et la modélisation des statues idolâtres.

Der Szenograph, Kalligraph, Designer und Maler Gilles Becker, luxemburgischer Herkunft, der im Frühjahr 2019 “Thyrsos Design” in Wien als Plattform für seine Arbeit, seine Studien und seine Praxis in Bezug auf historische, moderne und postmoderne Kalligraphie, Buchdruck und Malerei schuf, scannte, vektorisierte, zeichnete Callot’s Panorama teilweise nach und fertigte davon zehn Ansichten zum kolorieren an. Ausserdem wählte er zehn Ansichten aus dem 3D-Modell aus und bearbeitete sie so, dass sie nach Belieben koloriert werden können. Er zeichnet auch verantwortlich für die Recherche und Modellierung der Götterfiguren.

The scenographer, calligrapher, designer and painter Gilles Becker, of Luxembourg origin, who in spring 2019 created “Thyrsos Design” in Vienna as a platform for his work, studies and practice related to historical, modern and postmodern calligraphy, engraving and book painting, scanned, vectorised and traced partly Callot’s panorama and produced about ten views of it, ready to be coloured at leisure. He also selected ten views from the 3D model and edited them so that they also can be coloured. He is also responsible for the research and modelling of the figures of idols.

La vue monumentale et extraordinaire de la ville et forteresse de Luxembourg en 1753, a été découverte en 2018 dans les collections de l’Albertina à Vienne par Georg Kabierske, étudiant en histoire de l’art à l’Université Ludwig-Maximilian de Munich. Elle est intitulée « Stadt und Festung Luxemburg von Nordosten » et mesure dans sa totalité 213 cm en longueur et environ 35,3 cm en hauteur. Elle est divisée en trois feuilles, dont les longueurs respectives sont de 62,5 cm (feuille a), 83,4 cm (feuille b) et 67,2 cm (feuille c), les hauteurs respectives étant de 34,8 cm (feuille a), 35,3 cm (feuille b) et 35,4 cm (feuille c).

Der monumentale und außergewöhnliche Panoramablick auf die Stadt und die Festung Luxemburg im Jahre 1753, wurde 2018 in den Sammlungen der Albertina in Wien von Georg Kabierske, Kunstgeschichts-student an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München, entdeckt. Sie trägt den Titel “Stadt und Festung Luxemburg von Nordosten” und misst in ihrer Gesamtheit 213 cm in der Länge und etwa 35,3 cm in der Höhe. Er ist in drei Blätter unterteilt, deren Länge 62,5 cm (Blatt a), 83,4 cm (Blatt b) und 67,2 cm (Blatt c) und deren Höhe 34,8 cm (Blatt a), 35,3 cm (Blatt b) und 35,4 cm (Blatt c) beträgt.

The monumental and extraordinary panoramic view of the city and fortress of Luxembourg in 1753, was discovered in 2018 in the collections of the Albertina in Vienna by Georg Kabierske, an art history student at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. It is entitled “Stadt und Festung Luxemburg von Nordosten” and measures 213 cm in length and approximately 35.3 cm in height. It is divided into three sheets, each with a length of 62.5 cm (sheet a), 83.4 cm (sheet b) and 67.2 cm (sheet c) and a height of 34.8 cm (sheet a), 35.3 cm (sheet b) and 35.4 cm (sheet c).

Le dessin, réalisé à la plume et à l’encre noire est entouré d’un cadre également de couleur noire. La vue captive le spectateur par son effet quasi photographique. Des détails spécifiques et lointains relatifs aux bâtiments et au paysage sont visibles de façon très précise et sont encore soulignés par le contraste d’une feuille de papier claire. Afin de permettre l’identification des différents endroits, des lettres et des chiffres figurent sur la vue, une légende donnant les explications nécessaires se trouve au verso du dessin. L’œuvre originale fait partie des collections de l’Albertina à Vienne et avait été exposée temporairement du 23 janvier au 19 avril 2020, au sein de l’exposition permanente du Lëtzebuerg City Museum.

Die mit Feder und schwarzer Tinte angefertigte Zeichnung ist von einem schwarzen Rahmen umgeben. Der Blick fesselt den Betrachter durch seine quasi-photographische Wirkung.

Spezifische und entfernte Details, die sich auf die Gebäude und die Landschaft beziehen, sind sehr genau zu erkennen und werden durch den Kontrast eines klaren Blattes Papier zusätzlich betont. Um die Identifizierung der verschiedenen Orte zu ermöglichen, wurden Buchstaben und Zahlen auf der Ansicht eingetragen, wobei sich auf der Rückseite der Zeichnung die notwendigen Erklärungen finden. Das Originalwerk ist Teil der Sammlungen der Albertina in Wien und war vom 23.1. bis 19.4. 2020 in der Dauerausstellung des Luxembourg City Museums als Leihgabe ausgestellt.

The drawing, made with pen and black ink, is surrounded by a black frame. The view captivates the spectator with its quasiphotographic effect. Specific and distant details of the buildings and the landscape can be seen very precisely and are further emphasised by the contrast of a clear sheet of paper. In order to enable the identification of the different locations, letters and numbers are shown on the view, with the necessary explanations on the back of the drawing. The original work is part of the collections of the Albertina in Vienna and was on temporary displayed from 23 January to 19 April 2020 in the permanent exhibition of the Lëtzebuerg City Museum.

Une reconstitution digitale du Château de Mansfeld fait revivre de nouveau le château presqu’entièrement disparu, et le rendre tangible au spectateur. L’animation virtuelle d‘une durée de 15 minutes fut présentée le 30 janvier 2019 dans les locaux des „Archives nationaux de Luxembourg“ dans le cadre d’une exposition intitulée „Mansfeldschlass – Un château disparu?“.

Par l‘intégration des plans des jardins et du paysage au format Sketchup dans la maquette 3D du château, une fusion du château, des jardins et des aménagements extérieurs avec le terrain fut créée. La reconstruction des quatre groupes de personnages Neptune et Amphitrite, Bacchus, Vénus et Flora furent modelés en miniature, scannés en 3D et intégrés également dans le programme 3D. Le comte Pierre Ernest de Mansfeld était de 1545 jusqu’à 1604 Gouverneur du Duché de Luxembourg. A partir de 1563 il s‘érigeait une résidence privée à Clausen, faubourg de la

Das 15-minütige Animationsvideo wurde am 30. Januar 2019 in den „Archives nationaux de Luxembourg“ im Rahmen einer Ausstellung mit Titel „Mansfeldschlass – Un château disparu?“ vorgestellt.

Indem die Garten-und Landschaftspläne im Sketchup-Format in das 3D-Schlossmodell der Architekten eingefügt wurde, entstand eine Verschmelzung von Schloss, Gärten und Aussenanlagen mit dem Gelände. Die Rekonstruktion der vier Figurengruppen Neptun und Amphitrite, Bacchus, Venus und Flora wurden im Miniaturformat modelliert, im 3D gescannt und ebenfalls in das SketchupProgramm eingefügt.

The 15-minute virtual animation was presented on January 30, 2019 in the premises of the “National Archives of Luxembourg” as part of an exhibition entitled “Mansfeldschlass - Un château disparu?”.

By integrating the plans of the gardens and the landscape in Sketchup format into the 3D model of the castle, a fusion of the castle, the gardens and the exterior landscaping with the land was created.
