The initial inspiration for this collection was conceived after the Christchurch earthquake struck in February 2011. Aesthetic reference is derived from natural and earth related shapes, however the concept was further developed to include and be mainly focussed around mental illnesses, especially those triggered by traumatic events. I was interested in how events affect memory and thought, and aimed to create a snapshot collection based heavily on depth and texture of emotions.
