Redefine the style of outdoor camping

'' tentagon'' is a two-person lightweight tent with an inflatable frame, mainly for beginners in camping. Compared with the inflatable tents on the market, tentagon is lighter and more technical. It adopts innovative three-axis air column technology, which subverts the previous one-axis technology on the market, so that the overall tent frame has a better supporting structure. It is also made of environmentally friendly fabrics.

The luxury campimg is not only become a trend but also a future business opportunity. According to the statistics of the Camping Association, the number of people who regularly conduct camping activities in Taiwan has exceeded 2 million. At the same time, according to the statistics of Rakuten Insight in Japan, the keywords "luxury camping" have increased by 50% compared with the past. It can be seen that camping is not only a trend, but also a future business opportunity.

Positioned at the camping beginner. Due to the rise of camping activities, the number of this group will increase and their pain points is not satisfied, which can develop business opportunities in the market.

''tentagon''can be inflated within 2 minutes, and the user only needs to fill the inflatable frame to complete the construction. In addition to setting up, the one-piece tent is also more convenient and quick to pack up. The overall shape of the tent is represented by a pentagon, which is connected to the inner tent through the left and right inclined angles, and uses gravity to achieve a perfect balance between the inner tent and the air column.

Redesigned the moon guitar that has not evolved for long time to conform modern musical trend and avoid the culture decline. Make musicians easier to play with modern bands. To show the sound of Taiwan culture when musicians play with bands, emphasized original skills of moon guitar and integrate the sound between oriental temperament and occidental temperament.

Moon Guitar is one of the unique traditional musical instruments in Taiwan. It used to be seen everywhere, but now it has gradually declined because it can not keep up with the changes of the times. People are united and great because of their culture. Only by understanding our own culture can we truly understand ourselves and promote ourselves without forgetting our roots.

Design Goal

The temperaments between East and West are different.

When playing with western instruments, it is often stuggle to express the characteristics of the Taiwan instrument.

Under the impact of various foreign music, our traditional music is gradually lost. In order to prevent it from being lost, we need to find a way to bring Moon Guitar back to the eyes of the public.

Development

Before starting the design, we decided to think about various possibilities divergently, and use the mind map as a divergent tool to really analyze the points that need to be considered when redesigning a new Moon Guitar.

We understand that the Moon Guitar had been a popular instrument in Taiwan, but it has gradually declined due to the impact of contemporary foreign culture and the suppression of policies in the early government of Taiwan.

Design Concept

Developed play action with strong stage effect and shape with oriental imagery.

In order to attract the attention of the public, we must have novel shapes and distinctive stage charms, but at the same time we do not want to lose the traditional charm of Moon Guitar.

Through the usability test with moon guitar teachers, they consider that the function not only meets the needs, but also expands the form of performance. Teachers also look forward to redesigning more instruments to create a complete performance systemental image.

Through arduino to achieve electronic and combined with UI interface, integrate and develop a set of apps to allow musicians to input the desired tone on the mobile phone in advance, and only need to easily rotate the handle on the stage to quickly change it.

Through arduino programming combined with midi music, the experts recorded the basic sound and adjusted it by the music producer and converted it into midi music for playing.

Zest is a wearable accessory designed for music enthusiasts. By detecting your movements and dances while listening to music, it generates different levels of electric currents to produce various tastes, enhancing your experience. The device consists of two parts: a wearable device for the hand and a small item placed in the mouth.

Zest is a style, an opportunity to understand your musical tastes, and a new way to define and interpret yourself.

Zest allows you to create different tastes by tapping the wrist device in rhythm while navigating through crowded streets. It can also be used at parties, where you can dance freely and share your new musical insights with friends.

This project strongly reflects my personal experiences and desire for a deeper music experience. Due to my personality and cultural background, I've often felt shy about expressing my love for music and unable to naturally release my feelings through movement. This piece is the result of continuous research and a fresh perspective. Through Zest, I found a new reason and angle to fully enjoy and discuss music.

Without a clear feedback system to express their movements while enjoying music, it can sometimes feel awkward.

“Redefine the taste of music”

Currently, there is no easy, convenient, and portable way to stimulate one's taste in music.

This will open up a whole new market, a realm that no one has considered before. The idea of tasting music through your movements is a new concept, and it addresses an entirely new demand.

Development

This project draws a significant amount of inspiration from this research. A professor developed a technology that uses microcurrents and frequencies to stimulate the taste buds on the tongue, producing sweet, sour, bitter, and salty flavors.

“Listening to music makes us want to move. Whether it is through head bobbing, foot tapping, swaying or more elaborate movements, the tendency of people to engage physically with music seems to have an automatic and irresistible quality to it (Janata, Tomic, & Haberman, 2012). This motor involvement with music seems to be the most common way through which people tend to interact with music and usually result in an enjoyable experience. This feeling of an urge to move in response to music and the resulting enjoyment is commonly described as “being in the groove”. Janata et al. (2012)”

Through discussions, testing, and some brainstorming, we identified several critical flaws.

- No one is willing to wear something so cumbersome just to listen to music.

- While it’s great to adjust taste sensations, using a joystick for control seems unrelated to the act of listening to music.

Even if it's the same piece of music, everyone will taste different flavors due to their unique movements.

- The purpose of the device is still too vague; masks and joysticks are not elements people would want to be seen wearing in their daily lives.

Design Concept

After be sure to use the wrist-worn device as final, started to explore various possible shapes.

During the design process, continuously adjust the early prototypes and minimal dimensions in accordance with the new sensor and internal components, while referencing various contemporary smart wearable devices.

Drawing inspiration from the concept of lip piercings, the goal is to design multiple shapes that allow users to personalize their style. Experiment with various designs that can attach to wearable devices, creating a cohesive, integrated look.

Create feedback loop by different visual feedback

This version is for joyful playful happy music, The lighting ball will circle aroung with music and by your movement and blinking all the time to make it very alive for matching the happy vide for you to choose.

This version is perfect for meditation or calmer music such as LOFI or slower indie music. Slowly move to the rhythm, watching the light particles spin and dance along with you, helping you to fully immerse yourself.

This version is inspired by ocean waves, making it easier to resonate with calmer and sadder music. Your movements will control the direction of the waves, providing a visual feedback system suited for slow-paced and melancholy music.

As my target audience consists of music enthusiasts, I must provide unique custom designs and offer more options.

Given my target audience's discerning taste and preference for high-quality items, I focus on designs that avoid looking cheap and strike a balance between uniqueness and practicality. My work is highly customizable, with options for different colors, watchbands, and materials to cater to individual preferences.

I chose a lip piercing design for the small device, instead of a stick-like object. This design minimizes the exposed part and serves as a fashionable accessory. Like tattoos and earrings, I hope this mouth ring symbolizes a modern music enthusiast's identity.

Userbility Test

Approximately 60 people participated in the taste tests, and including those who only did the motion tests, the total number likely exceeded 100 people. The taste test results were extremely successful, with participants experiencing a wide variety of flavors. People reported tasting bitter, sour, salty, and even sweet flavors. Some could identify specific foods or tastes, mentioning lemon, berries, strawberries, sour candy, and the fizz of soda.

A few individuals noted very strong sensations. From the image on the left, you can see that everyone's reactions are quite different.

During this project, I rapidly learned to use ESP32, TouchDesigner, and various sensors within a few months to make my final product functional. This aligns with my longstanding commitment to always push boundaries. One of the biggest challenges was integrating all the electronic components into the design without compromising its form. As I continued learning and experimenting with new technologies, the size and structure needed constant adjustments. To ensure a better user experience and presentation, I made the device wireless, which significantly increased the time and effort required. However, the final user experience was highly successful and rewarding.

Better Class

Teach for the better tomorrow

Better Class is a teaching aid that combines software and hardware. It uses full-seat projection technology to transform complex abstract concepts or 2D planes into simple, intuitive and easy-to-understand 3D three-dimensional shapes. The current trend of smart digital aids in class allows teachers to have more diverse teaching methods and enhances students' lack of spatial cognition. After investigation, it is found that although spatial cognition is not specifically listed as a course, it is widely used in Among them, we designed Better Class in order to allow students to better understand and enhance students' interest in class.

According to the interview results, children in grades 5 and 6 may use abstract concepts or problems involving space in their classes, such as nature classes, mathematics classes, etc., and children will find it difficult to understand only through 2D pictures content. And according to the above chart, it is known that students have extreme differences in spatial cognition during this critical period.

Design Description

By presenting difficult 2D floor plans or complex abstract concepts with 3D projections, the diversified teaching methods of teachers also give children opportunities to actively explore and learn.

Classes are taught in groups can increase the interaction of students to improve the concentration of the class. Through the technology of holographic projection, each surface can be enriched with different angles.

It is expected to be used in more different courses or even special courses in the future, and the advantages of 3D projection can be flexibly used to present affairs, and even be used to explain escape routes, activity lines, etc.
