Grips

Grips are used on the uneven bars and rings. They are used to help you grip and stay on. They’re pretty much just like gloves. You use a spray bottle full of water to lightly spray your grips then rub chalk over them. They are a big help so you don’t get blisters on your hands!

Beam The balance beam is a women’s apparatus in gymnastics. Beam did not exist until 1934 and back then it was only 8cm wide. Today, the beam is a lot safer. It took seven years to add a padded beam. In 1974 the safety became more precise. The ends of the beam became padded to prevent injuries. Nowadays, the regular size balance beam is safer than ever.
