April 7, 2024 be unt you: as my Fater hat sent me, even so send I you. May 5, 2024

‘Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained” (Jan 20:19-23).
“And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me” (Jdg 6:11-17).
So send I you—to labor unrewarded, To serve unpaid, unloved, unsought, unknown, To bear rebuke, to suffer scorn and scoffing So send I you to toil for Me alone.
So send I you—to bind the bruised and broken, O’er wand’ring souls to work, to weep, to wake, To bear the burdens of a world aweary So send I you, to suffer for My sake.
So send I you—to loneliness and longing, With heart a hung’ring for the loved and known, Forsaking home and kindred, friend and dear one So send I you, to know My love alone. So send I—to leave your life’s ambition,
To die to dear desire, self-will resign, To labor long, and love where men revile you So send I you, to lose your life in Mine. So send I you—to hearts made hard by hatred, To eyes made blind because they will not see, To spend, tho it be blood, to spend and spare not So send I you to taste of Calvary. “As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.”
~ E. Margaret Clarkson ~“For God-called missionaries, "as He sent me" means leaving familiar surroundings and moving across wide cultural divides for the long term. It means becoming "Jesus with skin on" and settling in among unfamiliar people groups "to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10). This instruction begins with the phrase, "Peace be unto you:..." Three times in this chapter our Lord issues this statement of peace to those troubled men. The task they would set forth on required the peace of God upon their lives. In fact, in this very statement of commission, they would find peace. What do we notice about the words that follow this statement of peace?

‘“You’ve probably asked yourself, Is God really involved in the details of my life? If you’re like most of us, it’s easy to believe that God is in the good things. He’s surely in your successes, strong relaAonships, and good physical health. But you may wonder if He’s also in your failures, broken relaAonships, and sickness. Good news—He is!
Take note of an important disAncAon: God being in everything doesn’t mean that He is causing everything that happens to us. AIer all, we live in a fallen world full of brokenness and sin. There will always be trouble to deal with on this side of eternity. So, while God doesn’t create every circumstance we face, He does allow every circumstance. As He does, He’s weaving the good parts and the difficult parts of our lives together for our long-term benefit and His glory.
Nothing we’re dealing with has slipped by our sovereign God. Everything is under His control. When we choose to trust His ulAmate goodness, we can both receive the joys of today with thanksgiving and accept the hardships with peace. It is the peace of knowing that God is with us, for us, and always working for the good of those who love Him.”
In our spiritual life, faith can also be seen as a type of bridge—one that links us, who were once far from God, to His promises (Isaiah 59:2). This span is foundaAonal to our relaAonship with the Lord, offering hope on our journey. And the more we immerse ourselves in God’s Word and absorb His principles, the stronger this bridge of faith becomes. We can depend on it to provide safety as we navigate life’s trials.
As believers, we can find comfort knowing we’re connected to God’s love, grace, and redempAon. Through faith, we can walk boldly on the
path Jesus has laid out for us, safely traversing chasms of danger and doubt.
Whenever you see a bridge, let it serve as a symbol of how faith unites us with the living God and guides us to abundant life in Him. And keep in mind that a regular intake of Scripture reinforces our “bridge,” adding to its strength and stability.”
"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?” (2Co 2:14-16)
What fragrance do we carry around for others to smell? How many Ames has someone hugged you and you walked away sAll smelling like them? Can others tell we've been in God's presence because we have been close enough to smell like Him?
“When I consider how my light is spent, Ere half my days in this dark world and wide, And that one talent which is death to hide Lodged with me useless, though my soul more bent To serve therewith my Maker, and present My true account, lest he returning chide; “Doth God exact day-labor, light denied?”
I fondly ask. But PaKence, to prevent That murmur, soon replies, “God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own giMs; who best Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state Is kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed And post o’er land and ocean without rest: They also serve who only stand and wait.”
