Rick Sturim / email:modela13@aol.com / 616-560-7677 At the last Legion meeting, we held our annual elections. I want to thank you for giving me and all the present board members your support and agreement that we are doing a good job. They were all unanimously re-elected. We intend to keep up the good work you have grown to expect, but we would really like you to have some input on the issues and subjects we work on. We Legionnaires meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. Your ideas are always welcome. There is another Veterans Service Organization (VSO) that I want to make sure you know about: The United Vet-

erans Council of Kent County. This organization meets on the last Tuesday of the month at American Legion Post 154 in Wyoming. When this group meets, VSO's from all around Kent County come together to pass along information on what is happening in the County. They are also the group that plans Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades, and they host an outstanding annual golf outing. But that is not all that is presented, there are occasional legal presentations, updates on the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, and many other

important subjects are discussed. We, Post 459, are members of the Council, and all can attend. On a slightly different note, I want to mention that Gun Lake Casino is offering a "COURAGE CARD". This will get veterans, active duty, or first responders a 15% discount at their Sandhill Cafe all day, every day, and a 50% discount on Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Patriot Day, Veterans Day, Flag Day, and Independence Day. This is a great way to honor those who serve an who have served.

See me for more information. My contact information is listed above.
