Carolina Reapers is a brand built from scratch. This project gave me the opportunity to combine my passion for graphic design and baseball. The goal of this project was to create a brand of my choosing based on brand standards I created. I chose to create a potential MLB expansion team based out of North Carolina called the “Carolina Reapers”. You can see colors seen in other Carolina based sports including the Carolina Panthers NFL team or the University of North Carolina basketball team. My goal for the name of this team was to create a play on the famously known pepper, the Carolina Reaper. Instead of focusing on the pepper, the focus goes to the name Reaper. This led to the skull logo being a main part of the brand identity.

Within the brand standards you can find a letterhead, business card, envelope, team equipment truck and plane for travel, four variations of the uniform including home, away, and an alternate for each along with merchandise, all keeping within the brand standards. I chose to create a baseball team because of my love for baseball. I grew up watching baseball and still watch it to this day, which made creating this team a very enjoyable experience.

For this project, I was tasked with creating branding and advertisement for a brand that I created. Craft Cookies is a brand that brings old fashion flavors of cookies, while also adding new and unique ones that you would not normally see on a store shelf. I decided to make a mascot to represent the brand, Mr. Cookie, and the color of his chocolate chips change based on the flavor. For this brand I created web and out of home marketing to advertise all the flavors offered.

IDES3090 is a new course being offered at Johnson & Wales University. With the help of Professor Harris, and my design team, Julia Shiels and Andrew Byrnes, we were able to give the course an identity. The client requested an advertisement campaign to help generate interest in the course. We created a sticker hunt that spread across the campus in four different locations. We used posters to inform students on what the course was about. At these posters you would find a postcard and sticker. The goal was to encourage students to go find “Lil’ Will” at the four different flyer locations, and once they have completed this they could bring their postcard with stickers to a location on campus and collect a token.

Also requested from the client was banners that would be hung in multiple locations, a TV advertisement, and informational card that the University could hand out.

Cyber Paw is a coding “capture the flag” challenge that ran at Johnson & Wales during October of 2023. When this project was brought to my design team, we were told there needed to be a quick turn around, and we had about three weeks to create a logo, promotional banners, and TV ads to help spread the word about this challenge. Around the two week mark, a championship belt was also requested.

My design team had to adhere to the brand standards of the University. The final logo is a combination of my ideas, as well as one of my teammates. Cyber Paw had great success and saw a number of students participate to try and win the championship belt. The client was very pleased with our deliverables, and hopes to use them for years to come as the University plans to continue this competition.

The goal of this project was to create cards using different fonts that start with every letter of the alphabet. Along with the 26 cards, a box had to be designed and printed to hold the cards. To start this assignment, I went on different websites to find 26 fonts to use. By having 26 different fonts, the cards would all be unique. After deciding on a layout I liked, I went on to create all 26 cards with the fronts looking the same. Each card has a different back, created by using the letter the font on the front of the card started with. One of the struggles with this project was printing them out and cutting them to create prototypes. Once all the cards were printed and cut out, photos were taken of them, and I took them into Photoshop to edit lighting to make them look professional.

This is a brand I created from scratch. The assignment was to create a brand for a beverage of my choice, with all original branding. Three flavors and one seasonal flavor was required. Bullet Train Energy is an energy drink that comes in three different flavors year-round, and one seasonal flavor in December. I based the colors of the cans on the flavor, and added the snowflakes for the seasonal one, Christmas Cranberry. Overall, this project shows cohesiveness across flavors, and branding that stands out.

For this project, I was tasked to create way finding and branding for a state park or beach. I decided on Narragansett Town Beach, since as a Rhode Island resident all my life, I grew up going there in the summer. I chose an ocean green for the main color in the branding. Within this project, I created a ticket stand, navigation signage, information signage, and trash barrels to match the brand standards. I also created a custom 3D mockup using the 3D materials tool and drop shadow effect in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

To start this project, my professor assigned the task of choosing which kind of products we would be creating branding for. I chose to make branding for kitchen products. These consisted of a scrub brush, wooden utensils, produce wash, and a mini chopper. I chose to go for a more illustrated pattern rather than the branding I am used to designing. I also chose a neutral color to go with the wooden utensils. The font I chose for the logo is made to look like a burner on a stove. Overall, my professor was satisfied with the pattern on the packaging and was happy to see I explored a new area of design.

The goal of this project was to create a poster that highlighted a specific font. This font is Avant Garde. The assignment was to make an 11x17 poster. My goal was to highlight the iconic italic A, and this project achieves that by showcasing it multiple times. The hardest thing to do was to create a layout that looked unique and highlighted everything it needed to, but after multiple attempts it really came together. Once the final layout was found, all there was left to do was to put in the information and print. This project does a great job of highlighting Avant Garde and all its features.

JWU way finding

For this assignment, I was tasked with creating way finding for the John J Bowen Center at Johnson & Wales University. The building originally had very little signage, and guests were often getting lost trying to find a specific room. The goal of this project was to prevent that from happening and making the layout of the building clear to guests and students. Outside of the elevators on each floor in the building, there are walls with a different color assigned to each floor. I decided to base the color of the signage on those walls. I designed this so that the rooms on each floor could easily be changed by sliding the pieces out the side of the signage, in case two majors decided to change floors at any time. I created the numbers using shapes that reflected the design of the outside of the building. My design was submitted to the final vote of which signage would be created and placed throughout the building but came up just short of winning.

I was tasked with creating new branding for an already existing service. I chose a dog walking company called Tails n’ Trails. To start, I found inspiration in other dog walking apps, and pictures of my own dog along with my friends’ dogs. I had never designed with a bright orange before, so I decided to challenge myself and make it the main color of the app. Overall, I feel this is one of my strongest projects with brand cohesion, font and color choices, and overall layout.

The task given was to create eight different logos, all in different styles for a beverage of my choice. I chose to create logos for a whiskey company called Neat. Neat, is a way people sip whiskey, it means to not have ice in your glass, and drink it straight from the bottle, which is represented in the slogan, From Bottle to Glass. I created mockups for one of the designs, that has two different options for color. The different types of logos I chose to create are represented here.
