We Three Kings of Orient Are Joe Clark Op. 6, No. 4b For Clarinet Duet
DURATION: 1' 30" Performance Notes: Opus 6, “Duets”, is the first to consist of mostly decent music. However, most remain un-publishable for various reasons. All are scored for either flute and clarinet or two clarinets – or both. I would always play clarinet and the other part would be covered by Donna Morse, my lesson teacher; Rose Freeman, a girl who had lessons directly after me; or Lisa Clark, my sister. To my recollection, they were all inspired/requested by Mrs. Morse as assignments for lessons. My penchant for sharing melody among all parts makes its first appearance in these duets. This setting of "We Three Kings" is, to my recollection, original. It was written in seventh grade for Mrs. Morse and me to play and is actually the very first work that I deem publishable. It is suitable for developing players. This version is identical to Opus 6, No. 4a, except that the flute part has been transposed for a second clarinet. ~Joe Clark, 18.06.13 JOE CLARK is a seventh grader at Nissitissit Middle School in Pepperell, MA. He studies piano with Kathy Davis, jazz piano with Mary Giacobbe, and clarinet with Donna Morse. He plays clarinet in concert band and piano, keyboard bass, and vibes in jazz band under Kevin Tellier. He began pursuing composition seriously this year under the guidance of Amy Bailey. In his spare time, Joe enjoys reading and being a Cub Scout. He aspires to be a teacher someday.
