Tritone Flat Blues Joe Clark Op. 17, No. 3 For Piano Solo
Performance Notes: Opus 17, "Jazz Pieces" catalogues pieces I wrote while studying jazz piano under Mary Giacobbe. While most exist only as lead sheets, a few are written out in full notation. I recognise the strangeness of providing a cover for a lead sheet but, not having nearly enough to publish my own fake book, I'm not quite sure how else to publish them - and there is something to be said for consistency! "Tritone Flat Blues", as one might expect, features two blues progressions a tritone apart, linked together creatively. It was written on December 22, 2008. ~Joe Clark, 05.07.13 JOE CLARK is a freshman at North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, MA. He studies piano with Kathy Davis, jazz piano with Mary Giacobbe, and clarinet with Jason Bielik. He plays clarinet in Wind Symphony and marching band and piano in jazz band under Jason Bielik. He has been accepted into the Central District band for the past three years on clarinet and made the All-State band this year as well. Most recently, he played the role of Oscar the Rehearsal Pianist in his high school's production of "42nd Street". He aspires to be a band director.
