Dear Community Members,

As we continue our shared commitment to fostering the success of every student in the La Crescent-Hokah School District, I want to highlight a cornerstone of academic and personal growth: consistent attendance. When students are present at school, they unlock opportunities to connect with peers, engage in meaningful learning, and build the skills they need for lifelong success. Attendance is more than just showing up it’s about creating habits of responsibility and resilience that benefit students throughout their lives.

The start of the 2024-2025 school year has been marked by significant progress at our high school, particularly in attendance. The numbers confirm the improvements by comparing the first part of the school year (through October 29) from 20232024 to the same period in 2024-2025.

In 2023-2024, unexcused absences totaled 891 class periods by late October. This year, that number dropped to 377 a remarkable 57% decrease. Similarly, unexcused tardies fell from 603 class periods last year to 445 this year, representing a 26% improvement. Such significant gains in attendance are rare, and they speak to the effectiveness of the changes we’ve implemented.

Together, we can help ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed by prioritizing consistent school attendance Whether it’s encouraging students to show up ready to learn, offering flexible support to families, or celebrating the importance of being present, your involvement makes a difference. Strong attendance builds stronger connections, better learning outcomes, and a brighter future for all our students Let’s work as a community to create an environment where every child feels supported and valued daily at school.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting our students and helping them show up, thrive, and achieve their best Go Lancers!
