STAY CONNECTED! COMMUNICATION CHAIN

DIRECT CONTACT

Phone calls or face to face communication work the best.

START WITH THE SOURCE

Begin at the source of your suggestion or concern. This will provide the fastest results and most accurate information.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Keep issues offline to protect students, parents, and staff, and to avoid misinformation. Social Media is for celebrations and event information

BETTER TOGETHER

We are all modeling and teaching global citizenship and respect. EMAIL

If you do not know who to contact, we will help you! webmaster@isd300.k12.mn.us

DIRECT CONTACT

We believe that following a Chain of Communication is the most efficient and fair way to problem solve. It is also the best way to get ACCURATE information. We strongly suggest starting at the source, whether that is with a teacher, principal, school counselor, bus driver, or coach. To protect the privacy of all students, parents, and staff, we urge you to bring comments or concerns offline and to the source.

From the Office of the Superintendent 6

10 Guidelines for Effective Communication

If you have a question or concern, start with the point of contact that would have the most information This is referred to as “going to the source.”

Be respectful and civil. When you use swearing and name-calling, you lose credibility. Avoid profanity and blaming

Resist spreading rumors that you do not know to be true. This is dangerous on many levels

If communication from the the source was not satisfactory, then follow the chain of communication Contact a direct supervisor of your initial point of contact.

Seek to understand all sides of an issue and be empathetic to others.

Run the information you receive through a filter and get the full story before jumping to conclusions

Assume positive intent and seek further details from the source

Guard the reputation of your community as closely as you do your own.

Avoid social media when airing a grievance or concern. Feelings and emotions are temporary, but your online footprint is permanent. Help others remember the guidelines

All Electric, Solar Shingle, Amish Built, Forever Home!

Interested in saving energy, building a new home or remodeling an existing home? Joe Deden, founding director of Eagle Bluf Environmental Learning Center, and his wife Mary Bell have reduced their energy costs in remodeling their previous home by 78%! They then took what they learned and designed and built an all electric home complete with solar shingles, a back battery, and an air to water heat pump Their home has been featured in Root River Currents, an online newsletter (https://rootrivercurrentorg/) Other conservation measures include short grass, prairie pollinator prairies, a large rain garden and water conservation raised bed, wicking bed gardens They have a wealth of anecdotal stories about getting all these high tech systems to work together. Whether you want to build new or remodel your home, they have useful and helpful information that you will find informative! They will offer a tour of their home later this summer/fall for those who attend and want to know more!
