Established in 1995, the Franklin Chop House is a locally owned, time-honored favorite that serves classic American dishes in a cozy atmosphere. Many staff members have been with the restaurant 10 years or more, which adds to its welcoming feel. “We know a lot of local people by name,” says co-founder Mark Robbins, adding that the restaurant’s friendly atmosphere and broad menu selection keep diners coming back.

In addition to Italian favorites, this upscale-casual restaurant is known for its signature cheese fritters, flame-grilled portabella mushroom salad, cedarwood-roasted seafood and pork chops, and Black Angus steaks. A regular winner of local Readers’ Choice awards, Amerigo also has locations in Nashville, Memphis and Jackson, Miss.

Battle Ground Brewery was recently named by The Tennessean as one of the top beer bars in the Nashville area. Serving up traditional Southern food, Battle Ground Brewery & Restaurant is housed in a jail built in 1905. The spacious restaurant highlights its historic architecture while providing modern perks, such as high-speed Internet and audio-visual capabilities for business meetings and other special events. The restaurant also hosts live music several nights a week on the second floor.

Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant got its start as a culinary destination 10 years ago in Leiper’s Fork, and owner Andy Marshall added a similar eatery on Fourth Avenue South in downtown Franklin in 2005. “We serve great food, and the residents of both Leiper’s Fork and Franklin really support us,” Marshall says. “We have a menu filled with Southern favorites, including barbecue and ribs that the kitchen staff hickory smokes itself.” Puckett’s serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at both locations and can seat 70 customers in Leiper’s Fork and 110 in Franklin. “We make all of our breads and desserts from scratch at Puckett’s,” Marshall adds. Live music and events occur regularly at both locations.

Drawn to the thriving business environment and upscale clientele in Williamson County, Boscos Restaurant & Brewing Co. joined the array of dining options in Cool Springs in 2008. This inviting, casual restaurant offers a laid-back vibe, featuring gourmet brick-oven pizzas along with chef-created daily specials, salads, appetizers and elegant entrees. But Boscos’ main attraction is its award-winning, handcrafted beer. The popular brewery offers up to 50 different varieties each year, including its internationally recognized Famous Flaming Stone, the amber Bombay IPA and robust, full-bodied stouts and porters. Boscos’ signature menu items include fresh salmon baked on a cedar plank, a juicy double-cut pork chop and a prime cut of steak. The brick-oven gourmet pizzas are especially popular, with fresh ingredients such as sundried tomatoes, portabella mushrooms, basil, cilantro, mesquite-smoked
chicken breast, sweet Italian sausage, pesto and much more. Regular events at Boscos include wine tastings, brewmaster dinners, a daily drawing for a chance to attend the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, as well as other contests. “Everyone is used to wine and food, but many people don’t realize that food goes great with beer,” says Andrew Feinstone, director of operations for RPI.

The Country Boy is the oldest continuously running restaurant in Williamson County that’s still in the same location. This popular place, which opened more than 40 years ago, was renovated and reopened in 2009 under the ownership of Shannon and Charlie Martin. And while the menu has changed a bit, it includes many old favorites – and breakfast
is still served all day. “It’s all about good Southern country cooking at a value that country boys and girls from around here can afford,” says April Cantrell, who revamped the menu. Best-selling dishes include fried catfish and hamburger steak, and a new menu item is the Leiper’s Fork Hot Brown – an open-faced sandwich with turkey, grilled mushrooms and
tomato on sourdough bread and topped with a Parmesan cheese sauce and bacon. The restaurant is also quickly becoming famous for its delicious fried pies. The Country Boy strives to use fresh, local products whenever possible, including meat from Bear Creek Farms, eggs from Willow Egg Farm and milk from Hatcher Family Dairy.
