To make connection Exothermic welding process is used to join two conductors. The process mainly joins copper to copper, copper to steel, copper to brass, Gunmetal to Copper, etc.

A graphite mould, exothermic welding power, mould handle clamp, flint gun, mould brush, clamp brush, mould scraper and file card brush is all you require in your welding kit. The mould for making the joint should be chosen after considering the type of joint that has to be made and also the dimensions of the conductors. While performing the process, you must be in your protective outfit.

Further ensure that the mould and the conductor surfaces are clean as any sort of impurity can lower the quality of the connection. After the cleaning purpose, place the conductors and after closing the mould pour the weld powder on top.

Then ignite the starting powder using a flint gun which will initiate a chemical reaction that will produce an exothermically welded connection after losing the heat. This technique does not require external heating provision.
