TESSERAE

HOTEL

HOSPITALITY STUDIO PROJECT GRADUATE LEVEL

This boutique hotel in Center City, Philadelphia, draws inspiration from the golden veins of kintsugi, embracing a modern and elegant design. A bold contrast of black and gold highlights geometric compositions, emphasizing the beauty of fragmented elements coming together as a unified whole.

Size : 59,427 sq.ft./ 5,521 sq.m . - 2025 -

TESSERAE HOTEL

“TESSERAE” reflects the essence of the space: the union of individual and unique pieces that together create something greater. Just as each small tile in a mosaic has its own color, shape, and texture, every element in the hotel brings its own story and distinctive character. The beauty of the mosaic lies in its subtle imperfections and variations, which, when united, form a harmonious and vibrant whole. “TESSERAE” captures this idea of diversity and finding the beauty in the imperfection.

SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIES

The rainwater harvesting system is used on the roof of the outdoor area, hidden between the steel profiles that structure the ceiling.

This water is collected through gutters and then the water descend through pipes inside the steel profiles, towards a tank with a filter to remove impurities.

The water is transported to a main tank to be used primarily for plant irrigation.

PCM in TEMPLOK ceilings exchanges heat with air on both sides of the ceiling.
