The effects of cane molasses at 0, 4, and 8% of the dry matter in complete mixed diets were evaluated when the molasses was fed to lactating dairy cows in the presence of cottonseed hulls (CSH), alfalfa haylage (AH or both combined as a source of roughage. Thirty-six mature Holstein cows from mid-to late-lactation were used in a partially balanced incomplete block design with three 28- day periods. Parameters measured were dry matter intake, milk yield and composition and diet apparent digestibility.
