The mission of the Richard Wright Center for the Written Word is to enhance instruction and improve student learning outcomes by facilitating thinking, reading, writing, and research across the curriculum. We seek to enhance not only the products of these activities but also the processes. The Richard Wright Center is a place where Jackson State University graduate and undergraduate students can receive free tutoring. Come and see a trained peer writing tutor if you think you need assistance with your class paper, thesis, or dissertation or if your instructor has suggested visiting the center to improve your writing.
