“I would describe the SHA Sisterhood as loving. Everyone supports one another, and encourages each other to do their best. When one person succeeds, we all succeed. I have always felt supported by everyone at SHA.”

I love the positive community that defines SHA and all the friends I have made throughout my years here. At SHA, everyone has a place and feels connected. Additionally, the staff at SHA is always supportive of everyone's interests and encourages all of their students' endeavors. In general, the tight-knit, supportive, and accepting community is what separates SHA from all other schools.
Charlotte Ridge, 100 Club President Senior – Sacred Heart Model School
Future Valkyries,
My advice to you is to be brave! Going to a school where you may not know anyone can be scary. I have been there. But be brave, and you'll go far. Whether it's raising your hand when no one else is or chatting with your seat partner before class, you’ll never regret the bonds you make with your classmates. I am so glad I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone by joining clubs, meeting new people, and entering class with a positive mindset.
When I walk down the hall, I feel like I have a family of people I could go to, and that is what makes SHA so special.
Mary Shea Ballantine, Student Council President Senior – St. Francis of Assisi

Jean Frazier Leadership Institute
SHA provides four years of formal leadership development for every student through the Jean Frazier Leadership Institute – the only one of its kind in Louisville.
“JFLI has helped me become a leader and have more confidence in myself.”
Gia Piagentini, Sophomore –St. Patrick
STUDENT SUPPORT
“I have learned that leadership isn’t just the loudest one in the room, everyone is a leader in their own way and contributes just as much. JFLI helped me realize this because they incorporate leadership into every class we are in.”
Ellie Meyers, Sophomore – St. Aloysius
SHA provides academic and emotional support for all students through a variety of resources, including Counselors, College Counselors, Accessible Education Directors, Math and Reading Interventionists, and a Student Support Specialist. All of these people are here to help you succeed.
The Horton Accessible Education Center and HEART Hall, an after-school study period, are just two of the many ways students receive academic tutoring and support.
“My favorite thing about SHA is the community. All of the teachers, staff, and students are extremely kind and supportive. At Sacred Heart you are not just another number and everyone wants to see you succeed and become the best version of yourself.”
Ava Pahl, Senior – St. Patrick

The newest ministry opportunity is the Morning Glory Communion Service, which is held every Friday morning before school, followed by breakfast and discussion.
Valkyries go on retreats every year, enjoying peaceful opportunities to grow closer in their relationships with God and their classmates.
Service is a core value and engrained in all we do! All Valkyries serve their communities through designated service hours, service-oriented clubs, fundraisers at school and more. Service is a core value and engrained in all we do!

The SHA Sisterhood and the community built among Valkyries is truly special. In addition to all the bonds you’ll make in the classroom, you’ll love being a part of the heart.
Some of the most fun times of your high school years will be spent at SHA dances and pep rallies, in the Valkyrie Nation student section, and singing Dear Sacred Heart as you lock arms with your friends.
You’ll go on field trips and retreats – each time getting closer to your classmates, and you’ll serve your community alongside your fellow Valkyries.
Being part of the heart is EVERYTHING.
“My favorite thing about SHA is the many connections I have been able to make. Through sports, clubs and other activities, I have made lifelong friends.”
Grace Ward, Senior –Anchorage Public School
“The SHA Sisterhood is amazing. Everyone at SHA truly cares for each other and wants the best for everyone. We stick together as a family and support each other. The friends you find at SHA will be the people you are friends with forever.”
