For more than 60 years, the Dunn Ranches registered angus herd ran on high desert land in central Arizona. At the time, it was the oldest registered angus herd in Arizona and one of the oldest in the Southwest. Dunn Ranches held an annual bull sale in Arizona for many years.

As the time came to retire in 2020, William A. Dunn Jr aka “Bill” and his wife Becky made the tough decision to split their herd. Part of their herd moved to Northern Colorado with their grandson Buster and his wife Kassidy, and the other part moved to East Texas with their daughter Sam and her husband Chris, operated as Misita Cattle Company.

I, William A. Dunn IV aka “Buster” am beyond proud to not only share my grandfather’s name, but the years of genetics that we built for this herd. My wife, our two boys, and I live in Pierce, Colorado, and are honored to offer our bulls at our inaugural Colorado bull sale. In 2021, our oldest son William A. Dunn V aka “Cinco,” was just a newborn when our first semi load of cows arrived from the ranch in Arizona. It was the middle of the night during a blizzard, and they were very unhappy leaving the Arizona heat behind them. We have since expanded our herd three times from our original bunch, by holding back our best heifers as well as adding heifers from the Misita herd. In addition to our growing herd size, we also welcomed a baby boy, Cash Dunn, in the fall of 2022.

With the continued help from Bill and Becky, and their substantial knowledge of cattle and conservation, we have been hand selecting the genetics of this herd, securing leases, creating the most optimal feed plans, and learning everything we can. Not only do we focus on best serving our herd, but the land we graze as well. We truly thank God each and every day we are able to learn and live this lifestyle.

2025 is the first year that Dunn Ranches’ bull sale will be held in Northern Colorado. Up for offer we have 46 coming-twoyear-old registered black angus bulls. All of our bulls have been range developed at an elevation of 9500’ and pap tested by Dr Holt at this elevation. This is in Jefferson, Colorado, where the bulls enjoy “summer camp” each year. This is part of the reason we are very confident in their genetics, abilities, and the positive impact they will leave in your herd for years to come. You will notice that most of the bulls are very low birth weight, calving ease bulls. Also, most have above average $EN value, which is a measure of maternal efficiency. These traits have been a high priority for us for decades, since the southwestern ranges demand it.

We want to thank our incredible group of friends and family that continue to make this operation run smoothly. Without all of you and God by our side, we would never be where we are today. Each night as a family we thank Him for “the cows, the babies, and the rain. Amen.”

We want to extend an invitation to visit our ranch, anytime, for a viewing prior to our sale. Our bulls are guaranteed 100% as they have been for 60 years, and we offer free delivery to anyone who purchases a bull from us. We hope to see you all on Tuesday, April 22nd, for our inaugural Colorado bull sale.

THE DUNN FAMILY

Colt Keffer: 765-376-8784

cot@cksalesandmarketing.com

I am proud to assist the entire Dunn family in preparations for their inaugural Colorado bull sale. The Dunn’s have deep roots in the cattle business and have been raising Angus cattle and having sales for many years. This will serve as their first event hosted in Colorado by the next generation, Buster and Kassidy Dunn. It is always a pleasure to assist any young family that is wanting to make a go of the cattle business, I appreciate their work ethic and desire to carry on the family tradition.

These bulls are a valuable commodity in today’s world. We will be offering you 40 plus full two-year-old bulls that are fully PAP tested and developed at 9,500 feet. They have been fed and managed to offer plenty of longevity and can survive harsh conditions. The breeding behind this set focuses on carcass quality and feed efficiency, two attributes that are being heavily rewarded by today’s market.

The Dunn family are great people to deal with, and will stand behind their product 100%. I invite you to either join us on sale day or preview the bulls ahead of time. If myself or any of the sale staff can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

See you on sale day,

*When selecting an animal based on a PAP measurement other factor besides those listed above should be considered such as genetics or pedigree, PAP EPD’s, Systolic/Diastolic pressures, breed and previous illness.

*Special consideration should be given to the amount of time the animal was exposed to elevation (>5500 ft) prior to testing. The predictability and repeatability of the PAP measurement improves with longer the exposure to higher elevation (minimum of 4 weeks is required).

*This chart is based on animals greater than 10 months of age. Testing older animals (>12 months) results in a higher predictive and repeatability measurement.

*Testing of younger animals (<12months) may result in a greater variability to the predictive and repeatability measurement.

DEFINITIONS:

*Repeatable or Repeatability percent is a term used to give strength to a given PAP score predicting that If a PAP retest was carried out later in life, then the score would be close to or within the same category as the original measurement. For example, a PAP measurement taken below 4000 feet only has a 40% repeatable percent meaning that a repeat test only has a 40% chance of staying within the same risk category as the original test.

*Predictive Value—this term is closely related to repeatability percent but specifically says that the original score can accurately predict what that animal will retest in a higher elevation.

*RISK—Defined as the likelihood of an animal developing pulmonary hypertension themselves or being at risk for having a genetic predisposition for the disease.

Don’t buy an imposter. Not all “Angus” bulls are REGISTERED Angus bulls.

The Green Garden Angus program, where this bull was purchased from, is known nationwide for their long-term commitment to producing high carcass value, high feed conversion animals. This bull’s marbling EPD is the top 1% of the Angus breed.

A son of the widely popular GAR Prophet, this bull was selected for our herd because of his excellent legs and structure and his all around EPD profile.

A son of GB Fireball 672, one of the most widely used bulls in the breed that does everything right. 109’s EPD are very close to his sire’s. We are using him extensively. We selected 109 not only because of his superior all around qualities, but his PAP EPD is in the top 4% of the breed. His females are just coming into production and look like they will soon be at the top of our herds.

0150 is a many generation Dunn Ranches bred bull. His maternal line is second to none for functional moderate sized efficient cows.

0135 is a son of our 8167 bull which we chose because of his maternal line of very productive females that worked well in tough environments.

V437 is a full brother in blood to V434. Their dams are embryo sisters. We bought this bull in the same sale after we bought V434. We couldn’t pass him up. On gain test, he gained 7.70 pounds per day and converted 3.03/1. Combine that with his unsurpassed marbling of top 1% in the breed for marbling at +2.05, top 1% for $Grid and $Beef, this makes him one of the most unique bulls in the breed. After we purchased him he was bought back by Green Garden Angus and Carlink Ranch.

AVERAGE DOESN’T CUT IT

In 2023, Certified Angus Beef ® brand carcasses returned nearly $100 per head above market average.
