Camp Programs
During the school year, the day and overnight camping programs focus on outdoor education, leadership development, character education, and retreats. The main focus during the school year is on students in grades 5-8, but programs also include high school students, adults, and K-4 students. In the summer, the camp operates an inclusive recreational program of (7) one week overnight sessions and (2) three day overnight sessions as well as a one week day camp in Indianapolis. The summer program is co-ed and includes a traditional camping program for ages 7-16, a trip and travel program for ages 13-15, a junior counselor training program for ages 16-18, a supported training program for ages 16-19, a day camp for students entering K-4 in the fall and a trip and travel day camp for ages 13-15.
HISTORY Catholic Youth Organizatio Camp Rancho Framasa was created in 1946 and has remained in continuous operation. In 1960 CYO Camp Christina was opened and operated until 1990. The Camp Christina property was sold in 1998. Catholic Youth Organization Camp Rancho Framasa has always been a residential summer camp and in 1989 began offer programs during the school year to church, civic and school groups. Since 1989 the number of guests attending the camp during the school year has increased and the amount of financial aid given to these guests has increased as well. Today over 3,500 guests use CYO Camp during the school year and 2,000 campers attend the summer residential program. The camp’s summer program has provided financial assistance for those in need since its founding. In 1998 the summer camp program adopted the core value of being an inclusive camp. Campers of all abilities have been supported in the program alongside other campers and staff.
Inclusion Program
We believe that the ethical and fair treatment of one another is an integral part of providing an inclusive environment in which to promote healthy youth development. By fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and support in our camping program, we demonstrate an appreciation for the God given gifts and worth of each person. We strive everyday to reach beyond our own experiences to understand and interact effectively with a wide range of people including those of a different race, gender, socioeconomic class, nationality, religion, and physical or mental ability. The inclusive core value of Catholic Youth Organization Camp Rancho Framasa focuses on building an inclusive environment among our diverse populations. We invite all to participate in CYO Camp programs in order to broaden the culture of diversity in our organization. The population of CYO Camp staff and guests will reflect the community and socioeconomic circumstances of the parishes, schools and groups we serve. By offering scholarship assistance and through adaptive and supportive techniques used in our inclusive camping environment we pursue diversity.
