The following report is the result of a collaborative effort by Historic Preservation students at Columbia University, tasked with analyzing the historic significance and present-day value of Port Richmond’s commercial corridor and waterfront, once a unified hub of Staten Island, with the goal of creating a holistic Preservation Plan. By surveying the area’s historic and cultural resources, we have developed strategies for the local community and the City Planning Commission to sustainably revitalize the area while retaining its rich historic character and bolstering the existing community’s overall quality of life.
