National 4-H Week
The 2025 National 4-H Week is scheduled for October 5-11 with the theme, "Beyond Ready!" This week celebrates the 4-H mission of preparing young people for life and careers through community events, initiatives, and national gatherings. Members are encouraged to help promote 4-H and their clubs in the community.
A key event during this week is the Go GREEN day on Monday, October 6, where participants wear green to show their 4-H spirit. Some other ways you can celebrate 4-H:
• Give back by helping at the 4-H Office or at a 4-H event.
• Wear your 4-H gear.
• Set up a 4-H Information Booth at a community event or local store.
• Shout out to a fellow 4-Her. Send it to us and we’ll post it on our social media pages!
• Create a window display.
• Become a 4-H volunteer.
• Share your 4-H story.
• Have a 4-H picnic with your club.
• Send a 4-H ‘Thank You’ to your leader!
Go Green Day

In celebration of Go Green Day during National 4-H Week, the Capital Building in Harrisburg will be illuminated in green on October 6!
On Go Green Day, individuals, organizations, and landmarks across the country will show their support for 4-H by wearing or displaying green. Lighting up the Capital Building will be a powerful symbol of 4-H's impact and a reminder of how our programs continue to shape the next generation of leaders to be “Beyond Ready” for the future.
PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENTS
Farm Show 2026
Pennsylvania Farm Show- Department 24
Pennsylvania is proud to host the largest indoor agricultural exposition under one roof in the nation. The event showcases the quality and breadth of Pennsylvania's agriculture industry and the people who make it thrive. The show offers visitors a tiny slice of the industry that employs nearly half a million people and contributes $132.5 billion to Pennsylvania's economy every year.

Participating in the Farm Show is something many Pennsylvanians look forward to all year. It provides an opportunity to showcase the hard work and time invested in producing the best possible exhibits. The Farm Show runs from Saturday, January 10 to Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center, 2300 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg, PA.
There are a variety of live animal, still project, and presentation opportunities that align with many PA 4-H projects. Still projects, including project posters, sewing, and handcrafts, are part of Department 24. Prior to entering, be sure to take time to review the General Rules and Regulations, as well as the appropriate Department Rules.
Family Living – Department 24 Entries: Chester County 4-H will be packing and delivering non-perishable Department 24 Family Living projects to take to the Farm Show this year. ALL entries must be pre-registered before December 15th to receive entry tags. Tagged projects can be brought to the Penn State Extension Chester County Office by 10:00 a.m. on December 22, 2025. More details on Department 24 can be found here.
Be sure to carefully read and enter projects. Chester County 4-H is not responsible for determining appropriate categories, and Farm Show rules are clear that they will not accept improperly registered projects.

4-H Center Auction Invitation

It is that time of year again that we are preparing for the annual Chester County 4-H Center Benefit Auction on September 20, 2025.
The 4-H Center provides the main location for Chester County 4-H youth to hold their meetings, the annual 4-H fair, special events, and more. Supporting the 4-H Center will secure the future of a place where young people can learn and grow to become future leaders.
In addition to the county 4-H program, the Romano Center offers a facility to support other businesses within Chester County. Open to rentals for livestock and equine events, community group meetings, and professional business, the facility hosts over 95 meetings annually.
Funds not only support the cost of the center operation and improvements but also supports 4-H youth by saving dollars they would need to spend to rent a space.
We hope to see you this year at our annual benefit auction on Saturday September 20, 2025. The auction will include both a silent and live auction with a BBQ dinner as well as desserts from a local vendor and 4-H teen members, both who donate proceeds back to the 4-H Center.
In addition, if you are interested in donating an item or know someone who would be interested in donating, please plan to drop off donations during these times: 9/17, 9/18, 9/19 from 6:00-8:30 p.m., and 9/20 from 9:00 a.m.-noon.
We look forward to seeing all 4-H families and our 4-H community at this event.
With regards,
Chris MacCauley, on behalf of the Chester County 4-H Center Board of Directors
