Recycle at Your Library
Staffordshire Libraries in South Staffordshire are teaming up with Waste Savvy Staffs to expand a bra recycling scheme that also helps to support the ‘Against Breast Cancer’ Charity.
Bra recycling banks are onsite at Codsall, Perton, Wombourne Library and Kinver Community Library and we hope to roll out this offer elsewhere as well.
You can also find ink cartridge recycling points (and battery boxes soon) at Codsall, Perton and Wombourne to dispose of those unwanted ink cartridges.

‘planning holidays for people who value a personal service…’
We proudly bear the title of the reigning “Smarter, Better, Fairer Travel Agent of the Year,” and whilst we wait to hear if we’ve been short-listed for this year’s awards, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable strides we have made since winning.
Our commitment to providing unparalleled service and unmatched expertise is evident in the glowing accolades we have received, including a 4.9 Google rating, 5-star Facebook and Trustpilot reviews, and positive feedback from our clients, which we actively seek to improve our service.
Our dedication to excellence is mirrored in the countless hours we have invested in personally inspecting hotels and ships worldwide, travelling to stunning locations such as Greece’s Ikos Olivia and Ikos Oceania, Cyprus’s Asimina Suites and Athena Royal, and South Korea’s Lotte Seoul, among others. We have also inspected a variety of cruise ships, from Seabourn Venture to Fred Olsen’s Bolette, and attended events hosted by the Expedition Cruise Network and Albatross Expeditions to expand our polar cruise expertise.
Our investment in top-of-the-line technology has also allowed us to operate using a single number (01902 288104), ensuring seamless communication with our clients. We have also implemented an emergency out-ofhours service that is available round the clock, making sure that our clients are always taken care of.
Our community involvement is a significant source of pride for us, and we co-founded Brewood Means Business, a local networking group that has provided training and funding for local businesses, supported The Community Hub Brewood Beer Festival that raised over £3500 for our local scout hut, and launched Gilly’s Gems, a loyalty scheme that rewards repeat business and referrals. We have also supported our local food bank and implemented our Gift of Greenery campaign, providing free trees to promote sustainable travel.
As part of our ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable future, we have adopted various green practices, including using energy-efficient lighting and devices, installing
solar panels and a 10kW battery for storing electricity in our office, and encouraging clients to travel with reusable water bottles, coffee cups, and straws while conserving water and choosing bar toiletries. Our Loyalty Club Diamond members also receive complimentary electric vehicle airport transfers.
We recognise that travel can be daunting for some, especially for those who lack confidence, many who are older, solo, or disabled travellers. Over 30% of our clients have expressed the view that they would not have taken a holiday without our support, and this fills our hearts with joy.
In support of our values, we have also pledged to participate in the Trade Crusade next month, raising £2500 for breast cancer, a cause close to the heart of our admin lead, Stephanie Minton, as well as assisting Brewood Cricket Club in its fundraising efforts for an accessible toilet, aligning with our inclusiveness strategy.
As we continue to strive for excellence, we are proud of the milestones we have achieved and remain dedicated to providing exceptional service, unwavering expertise, and fostering a sustainable and inclusive future for travel.

Brewood Jubilee Hall hosts Brewood Singers’ Summer Concert
EXHALE WITH CLAUDIA
Vinyasa means ‘to move with intention’. During classes we will gently warm up our bodies, followed by a slow flowing sequence of poses which will strengthen our physical bodies, whilst calming and relaxing our internal mind.
Wednesdays - 12pm-1pm Perton Civic Centre Fridays - 10am-11am St Andrew’s URC Wall Heath
The Brewood Singers have chosen Brewood to perform their Summer Concert entitled ‘Singing in Summer’ to take place in the Jubilee Hall on Saturday 6th July 2024, commencing at 7.30pm.
The special guests at this concert will be the male acappella choir, Cor Bach Choir from North Staffordshire, who in 2022 were the winners of the ‘Midlands Choir of the Year’ at the Lichfield Festival. The Choir formed in 2018 as a group wishing to ‘do something different’, somewhat away from the traditional male voice choir singing in which most of us were schooled.
The Brewood Singers choir was formed over 50 years ago and is a SATB choir of around 40 people who enjoy singing and performing. They sing harmonic arrangements of songs from film, theatre, pop and also light traditional choir music and perform in a variety of venues including Churches, Garden Centres, Village Halls, etc. Just some of the popular titles to be performed on the night include : Thank you for the Music, Make you feel my love, Million Dreams plus, And so it goes (Billy Joel), Let there be peace on Earth.
Bring your own nibbles, as there will be a licensed bar in the hall offering a selection of drinks so that you can sit back and let the choir entertain you with a programme of light, popular music ! There will be a raffle, proceeds from which will support the Alzheimer’s Society.
The tickets cost just £10 each and are available from choir members, the choir’s website at www.brewoodsingers. co.uk or by calling the Box Office 0790 069 3754.

‘Dance Scottish’ with the Stafford Caledonians
Have you ever wanted to try Scottish Country Dancing but never got round to giving it a go? Now is your chance to find out more through the Stafford and District Caledonian Society.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be Scottish or wear tartan all the time and you don’t need a partner. Our friendly and inclusive group welcomes new members of all abilities with beginners especially encouraged.
Not only can you learn and develop Scottish Country Dancing steps and dances, but it’s also a way of keeping fit and active, having fun and meeting new people.
The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at the North End Community Centre, Holmcroft Road, Stafford ST16 1JG starting with the Beginners and Improvers session at 7pm. Just wear something you are comfortable in and bring some pumps or lightweight trainers.
The session continues for social dancing at 7.45pm with a
Leather Upholstery Technician
break for tea and chat at 8.30pm, with the evening finishing at 9.30pm. The social dancing includes learning new dances with ‘walk throughs’ of all dances so people are familiar with them before we dance each one.
The evening session costs £3 and the annual subscription is £10. Those attending the Beginners session only pay £1.50.
The group runs from September to May and during that time there are some special occasions like Burns Night, President’s Evening and the Annual Ball, not forgetting the Fish and Chip Supper plus dancing! Start date of the new session is on 4th September 2024.
There is a website at www.staffordscottishdancing.danceorg.uk so you can check out what’s on and see any variations to timings. Alternatively you can phone Gerald on 07904 380760 for information about membership or to ask any questions and there is a contact form on the website, where you will usually get a response within 24 hours.
So put on your Scottish dancing shoes, come along to the Stafford and District Caledonian Society and ‘Dance Scottish’.

Get ready for Summer Reading Challenge 2024, ‘Marvellous Makers’, arriving at your local Staffordshire library this Summer on 6th July!
Developed in partnership with Create, a leading charity bringing the creative arts to those who need it most, this year’s Challenge aims to fire up children’s imaginations and unleash storytelling and creativity through the power of reading.
Children aged 4-11 are invited to set a reading goal and collect rewards for their reading. It’s FREE to take part, and last year 75% of children taking part improved their reading skills over the holidays.
Why should my child sign up?
• They will be better prepared to return to school in the autumn.
• The Challenge supports the move into a new year group.
• Becoming more independent in their reading boosts children’s confidence and self-esteem.
• The library provides free access to books and fun family activities all through the summer.
• Library staff are on hand to offer support and book recommendations.
• Your child will be part of a UK-wide programme developed by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with the public library network.
Are you excited to join the ‘Marvellous Makers’ this summer? Keep an eye on our social media and ask your local library team for more information.
Find out more at https://summerreadingchallenge.org. uk/ or pop along to your local library on Saturday 6th July to sign the kids up!
In addition, we will also be offering the Mini-Challenge for pre-school aged children from our libraries. The Mini Challenge is a bite sized version of the Summer Reading Challenge for our youngest readers. Children collect stickers on a special collector card for the books they borrow and read.
Discover our Summer events and much more here: https://linktr.ee/staffordshirelibraries
