Many of the items can be attributed to the former inhabitants of the Lock House and others may have been discarded when the navigation was open.
The waterway, also known as the River Sow Navigation, was in use from 1816 until the 1920s, and the

Learn To Play Classical Guitar
Has your child a desire to learn to play the guitar, but you would like them to learn in a classical style, giving them an excellent grounding in musical ability? Or are you an adult who has regretted not learning earlier? Make this the year you achieve a worthwhile skill.
My Name is Martin Turnock; I have over 25 years of experience teaching guitar and music theory in schools, local government establishments, and privately.
Whether pupils have learnt for their own pleasure or attained success through the graded exam system, the process has been very rewarding to me as a teacher of guitar.
Some pupils who have achieved graded examinations have been able to use the examinations for UCAS points as part of their required points for university application.
As my pupil, you can expect your confidence to grow through your achievements. I can offer 30-minute or 1 hour lessons, either on a 1-to-1 basis or, if you prefer, as a pair, giving each other motivation and confidence.
For an informal discussion of your personal goals and requirements, please call the number below:

Perton Townwomen’s Guild
The Townswomen’s Guild (TWG) is a national organisation founded in 1929 and we are delighted to have The Princess Royal as our current patron.
The purpose of TWG is for women of all ages to meet, make new friends, learn new skills, find new interests, help the community and most of all, enjoy themselves Perton TWG was established in February 1988. The first meeting was held at the home of Mrs Sheena Davies, who was elected Chairman and later went on to be the Guild’s President.
The present Guild meets on the first Wednesday evening of the month at 7.15pm in the Madeline Moor Room, Civic Centre, Perton. Our current Chairman is Gillian Davies and President Marjorie Harding.
The meetings typically consist of a short business meeting, followed by an informal presentation from a local guest speaker. The evening concludes with tea, coffee and biscuits but perhaps most importantly, a chance to chat and socialise. New members and visitors are always warmly welcomed.
In addition to our regular meetings, we also get together for days out in the local area, the location of the outing often inspired by our guest speakers. Over the last few months we have visited the Kingswood Trust, Albrighton, a beautiful nine-acre site where they focus outdoor learning through nature. We have spent a relaxing morning on a canal trip from Hordern Road to Wightwick and enjoyed a really interesting time at Stourbridge Glass Museum.
As a community organisation, we also enjoy taking part in the annual Perton Carnival. During the early years we hosted a cake stall, but more recently we have organised a fun Washing Line Tombola. Playing on the traditional concept, the idea is for adults and children to choose a sock from the line, where a ticket hidden in the toe is matched to a prize.
Supporting charities is another of the Guild’s interests and we are pleased to have supported more than forty local charities since the Guild’s inception. This year we set up a Facebook page, but this is still very much in its infancy.
New members and visitors are always welcome. Come and join us and make some friends. For more information, please ring Gillian 07946 861057 or Sylvia 01902 754002

Tettenhall Operatic Company
Tettenhall Operatic Company has been entertaining audi- ences for about 40 years with high quality operetta and concerts in the Wolverhampton area. In recent years the company has been nominated for and received a signifi- cant number of awards from NODA (the National Operatic and Dramatic Association).
Each year before Christmas we present Festive Fayre at St Thomas’s RC Church Hall in Tettenhall and concert performances of an operetta in February followed by a semi- staged operetta in July at Codsall Village Hall. Audience feedback and response is invariably incredibly positive. NODA reviews on the NODA website (https://www.noda. org.uk/regions/ west-midlands/reports) reflect this, fre- quently in glowing terms.
We are a small and very friendly company that warmly welcomes new members. We rehearse in
Tettenhall every Tuesday from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
If you are between 16 and 30 you might be interested in applying for our innovative Performance Bursary Scheme. We also have a growing band of supporters who are members of the Friends of Tettenhall Operatic (FOTO), a scheme that is primarily a means of pre-booking tickets and receiving regular newsletters and a free programme at all our events.
Details of these schemes, who we are, what we do and previous shows and concerts are on our newly revamped website www.tettenhalloperatic.weebly. com. We can also be found on Facebook. Do take a look!
If you would like further information about any aspect of the company, please contact Julian Souter, Chairman, at julianat103@aol.com or 07828 791326.
