His main research interests include early music and its performance and music bibliography, printing, and publishing. Undoubtedly one of the leading musicologists in the field of Renaissance music, Boorman’s Studies in the Printing, Publishing, and Performance of Music in the 16th Century and his Ottaviano Petrucci: A Catalogue Raisonné are considered major contributions to the field. In addition, Professor Boorman has authored no less that 45 articles in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and has contributed numerous articles to various scholarly journals. His honors include fellowships at the Villa I Tatti in Florence, Italy and with the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Guggenheim Foundation. The emphasis in this important collection is on early Western music, particularly that of the Renaissance. Many of the items have been out-of-print for quite some time and are thus either unobtainable or very difficult to obtain on the current market. All items are in very good antiquarian condition overall, with many in near-fine condition. A number of the items are signed by Professor Boorman, and some carry his neat penciled annotations The collection is for sale en bloc for $45,000.
