4th year Interior Architecture student at the University of Kansas
As a first generation college student and aspiring architect, I view design as a dynamic intersection of creativity and functionality. My portfolio is a reflection of my dedication to crafting spaces that not only serve their purpose but also resonate with emotional and aesthetic sensibilities. Each project embodies my commitment to sustainability and innovation through the design process. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the dynamic discourse within the Interior Architecture community and beyond.

I want to offer the Haddad family the experience of “adding and subtracting” different spaces within the home. The sun, curved arches, and mashrabiya will provide a clear “atmosphere” with shadows and promote clear way-finding.

A large kitchen that is accessible for the Haddad Family. It will be used for entertaining guests. The ribbed texture on the island serves as a guide to aid Yousef’s path since his cataracts cause him to run into things.

MOMO is envisioned to be a dynamic masterpiece that seamlessly merges various art forms, fostering collaboration and interaction among artists and audiences alike within the Lawrence community. We aim to preserve the original framework. This innovative space is designed to pay homage to the Lawrence arts district and local artists by focusing heavily on location and user needs. We aim to create a point of convergence for all creative minds to work together in building a central hub, all in all creating a lively environment that celebrates the rich diversity of human expression.

Floor One
Create intimate and private spaces that allows our space to be a hub for all communities with circulation and zoning.
Create an innate intrigue into our space by allowing others to see what happens inside. Aim to draw art-goers into taking our classes and using our facilities further.
The Retail space is a way to bring in more Lawrence natives to the MOMO, but also as a source of extra revenue to our space. By offering a space where local artists can sell their art to different communities within Lawrence.
The Jewelry Workshop is a space dedicated for individuals that want to work on their projects. A space catered to their hobby. This space is collaborative and offers a lot of storage options.
Large space dedicated to painting classes. Includes open bar to indulge in different wines while painting. The space has art from local artists displayed to bring a sense of community within the MOMO.
The rooftop bar is a chance to intice many people from the Lawrence area to stop by the MOMO and bring life to the space. Inspiration is drawn from historical Lawrence, also represented in the Watkins museum of History.
This plant stand was a gift for my plant loving older sister. It will be located in her home and will settle comfortably. When designing for her I wanted it to be a refelction of who she is as a person. She has always given a “glass half full” energy. This plant stand is a reflection of her beautiful and resilient view in life.
50/50
This project allowed me to test my skills learned in my furniture course. I wanted to challenge myself with using rivets to join my pieces together. After completing this plant stand I am really proud of everything I learned. I learned how to use a Router table saw to create a dato joint on all pieces of my stand. I’m really proud of these plant stands and I hope my sister loves it as much as I do,

During my study abroad trip to Costa Rica, I learned how architecture can seamlessly blend with nature to create sustainable and harmonious spaces. Observing structures in different cities taught me the importance of using local materials and ecological awareness in building practices. This experience deepened my understanding of how architecture can respect and enhance its natural surroundings while remaining functional and beautiful.
In Puntarenas, I immersed myself in a vibrant culture through its traditions, and food.Exploring local markets and cooking traditional dishes like gallo pinto. This experience reinforced my belief that architecture, much like cuisine, should be rooted in culture, using local materials and traditions to create spaces that truly serve the community.
Sketching in Costa Rica during my study abroad program helped me develop a sharper eye for detail and a deeper appreciation for organic forms. This experience not only strengthened my technical skills but also taught me how to use sketching as a tool for understanding and interpreting the relationship between architecture and the natural world.
In Monteverde, I experienced the beauty of the Cloud Forest and saw how nature and architecture can coexist in harmony. The region’s sustainable building practices and integration with the environment deepened my understanding of how design can work with nature. This experience inspired me to think more intentionally about sustainability in my own designs.
I have always had a creative spirit when it came to arts and crafts and my creativity shines through in everything I create. My skills in embroidery, watercolors, hand sketching, and model making allow me to bring intricate details and unique ideas to life. Interior Architecture has given me the perfect outlet to combine these artistic abilities with design, letting me explore new ways to express my creativity.
Through this project I tested my hand sketching skills when creating the floorplan, site plan, elevation and sections all to scale. This project focused on creating a pavilion that is ADA accessible through different forms from a “kit of parts”. Each piece had to succesfully create a form that encapsulates clear-wayfinding and a sense of serenity when moving through the space.
THANK YOU! for considering my portfolio.
