ready to wear

I would have never imagined how far this world is from mine. I didn't spend enough time there to have the nerve to say I met the Fashion world. Time enough to find out it was pretty close to what I imagined. Lots of pretty (very) young girls, dressed and made up like if they were over their twenties, told to walk stiff and expressionless. The highlight must remain on the clothes they wear. Trend of the year '08 : many of these young beauties came from eastern Europe, coached by by some overweighed, over made-up, over jewelled caricature of Babayaga. As they crossed my way along the alleys, by the end of this long last saturday afternoon of this 'fashion week', they looked more like alive hangers to me, still walking, smiling, dancing. On the other hand, lifelike mannequins looked sometimes quite as real. I certainly should have spent more time, to see something different, beyond these "clichĂŠs". Others did, some much more talented photographs than I am, such as Pierre Belhassen in his Backstage gallery, on his website. Well, as it was 'PrĂŞt-Ă -Porter" and not "Haute Couture", the champaign parties were 'pommery champaign party' (which makes quite a difference) and the photograph was amateur.
