ABU DHABI SIGHTSEEING DIVERSITY Abu Dhabi is home to more than 200 nationalities living and working in the Emirate. It is also a cultural hub where all these nationalities mix, making Abu Dhabi one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. HISTORY The origin of Abu Dhabi's name is not entirely certain. "Father of the Gazelle", which is literally translated from Arabic, referred to the gazelles (Dhabi) that inhibit the emirate. Records indicate that the name was first used some 300 years ago. Abu Dhabi's economic history mainly resided on the pearl trade. The Arabian Gulf was the best-known location for harvesting pearls. Until now, pearl divers are revered to be the humble forefathers of the prosperous and flourishing economy that now exists in the UAE. PLACES OF INTEREST Abu Dhabi is home to many places of interest including Ferrari World at Yas Island, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the iconic landmark with 82 white domes, and Qasr al Hosn which is an 18th century palace and fort residing in the heart of Abu Dhabi.

WELCOME TO ABU DHABI!!
