Spacer Fabrics
This series of samples explored the spacer structure using M1+ programming. By testing different densities of tucking stitches and varying the filler material from thinner monofilament to thicker synthetic yarns.
I created a range of spacer fabrics with varying thicknesses and textures. Incorporating different trucking sequence and ottoman/ float structure into the spacer design also made the fabrics foldable.
Milano Ribs with reflective yarn
Application Sketch
I was interested in creating durable, sturdy, stretchy, and dimensional fabrics by experimenting with spacer fabrics, interlock structures, and Milano ribs.
Therefore, I grabbed a few samples that I developed from the collection and knitted them with variations in materials, color combinations, and scale of the repeat. Eventually, the group of samples that I developed was used in this application sketch of a backpack that is fully reflective in the front, with a spacer fabric as the back support.
