Jim McFarland Joliet says according to the National Wildlife Federation, wildlife conservation in the US gets the majority of its funding from the federal budget, annual federal and state grants, and financial efforts from programs such as the Conservation Reserve Program, the Wetland Reserve Program, and the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program in the US. Fish and Wildlife Services State Wildlife Grant Program (2006) secures federal funding to support habitat restoration efforts for species outlined in the Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy (CWCS), concluded in 2005. Since it is the most effective way to conserve species before they become endangered, the NWS is working to encourage the use of state wildlife action plans that serve as blueprints for state conservation efforts.
