Orlando Foundation for Architecture Scholarship
Dear Selection Committee,
I am writing to apply for the Orlando Foundation for Architecture Scholarship. Architecture has always been my passion, my driving force for my academic pursuits, and has inspired my creative endeavors. With my background of traveling and studying many different culters and countries, my work and my passion for architecture has created a style that is unique to me.
My travels around the world have deeply influenced my approach to architecture. I have utilized my undertsanding and experiences to influence my work in school. An example of this is the project that I am presenting to you today. This project is based in Savannah, Georgia, which is known for their use of limestone and brick patterns. Before this project, I had taken a trip to Isreal and had learned a lot about the main types of materials and methods they use in their culture. Isreal is also known for their multiple ways of using limestine and brick patterns in almost all of their structures. With the site analysis I did in both cultures, I was able to combine these two methods and designs and create something new. This new style I had created would set this building apart from the rest yet still flow with the buildings around it. My travels have shown me how my knowledge of mutliple cultures can further my design in ways that can bring cultures together.
No matter where I am or what I am doing, I always find a way to tie it back to what I love doing. Architecture is my life, my future, and by receiving the Orlando Foundation for Architecture Scholarship I would no longer have to worry about the financial burden and just soley focus on taking my work into a new level of design. I am eager to contribute my skills and passion to the architectural community and am grateful for your consideration. As a full time student with a part time job, the financial burdens are getting more difficult, but with a scholarship with the Olrando Foundation for Architecture, it would alleviate a lot of those burdens and help me futher my career.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Victoria Jimenez
