#smilingsquares

This zine titled 'Smiling Squares' includes a series of illustrations that are inspired by the appearance of various fictional and non-fictional characters. All the artworks in this zine are constructed using 65x65* grids and changed the colours of some of the boxes. This zine is created as a part of the VIC 702 studio task under the academic curriculum of the MA Visual Communication programme at Solent University, Southampton.

SEMIOTICS OF A SQUARE

Square has become an integral part of our lives in the current digital era. People began spending the majority of their time on their phones and laptops. The images we see through our phones and laptops are built up of tiny squares known as Pixels. The term "pixel" combines the words "picture" and "element." The shape of a square represents quality, balance, technology, and stability. The colours of tiny square boxes are changed for creating illustrations in the entire zine. The characters' appearances are based on various well-known figures, and the elements for the supporting graphics either depict or metaphorically represent them.
