The new proposal for Komorany school aims to create a sustainable environmentforthestudentstodevelop through contact with nature and peers. The formal outcome of the design reflects this idea: the classrooms are collectedinclusters, keepingsimilarage groupstogether.
Each one has its dedicated green zone, toenhancetheteachingexperiencewith outdoor activities. Flexible partitions of the classroom walls allow the opening of the room fully to blend seamlessly withtheoutdoors.
Betweentheclassrooms-is a corridor, the natural extension of the learning spaces, made for the integration of different age groupsduringbreaks.
The school lays on three levels, naturally merged with the slopy terrain of the plot, keeping its scale adequate to the surrounding. The functions are oriented along the long atrium, which crosses the whole building, leading to the back garden.
The front zone on the ground level hosts common roomsagym, and acanteen. The wide stairs with aslide take the students to the upper level, to the classroom floor. Vshaped cluster corridors are widening toward the atrium, creating spatial transparency. CLT is the primary building material, supported by the concrete plinth, the main bearing element.

Mini Tower One is an addition to the rear of a Brooklyn multifamily residential building. The project extends the use of each unit by providing space for more activities. Each floor of the building is enlarged, adding areas for living and entertaining. Some areas can be both indoor and outdoor, such as the indoor terrace and all-season room. They can also be enclosed so residents can watch seasons pass, with views of spring rains or winter snowfalls.

Our proposed hybrid structure of the city block, made up of two independent buildings, creates a public space connectedtotheflowofpedestrianpaths and offers a wide range of activities not onlytotheresidentsoftheblock, butalso tothesurroundingarea.
We propose an active urban parterre that positively shapes and responds to the urban character of the adjacent Vinohradská, Rubešova and Římská streets.Thecompletionoftheurbanblock is thus actively involved in the wider contextandcreatesnewopportunitiesfor urbanlifewithinthegroundfloor.
Introducing our visionary office building, set to redefine the skyline of Vinohrady, Prague.
Below the level of the quarter-circle platform with the city's publicly accessible park, there is a busy parterre full of restaurants, cafes and city amenities complementing the newlycreatedadministrativebuilding. The new porous urban block activates
On a quarter-circle platform, sandwiched between two residential buildings, there is a public urban green courtyard. The abundance of trees offers a shady refuge not only for the residents of the apartments and users of the administrative building, but also for all passers-by passing through the city block. At the same time, tall trees have a positive effect on the indoor microclimate, especially in the hot summer months.
I.Our office building features a façade adorned with continuous green terraces, seamlessly integrating nature into the urban landscape.

ODA Tirana is rooted in the city's identity, brings in multifunctional urban space and sequence of both exterior and interior public spaces. Instead of focusing on purely exhibition centre situated usually on the periphery of the city, we decided to take advantage of the central location and create amultifunctional meeting hub for professionals, cultural people and locals alike. Hence the name of the essential public space of the proposal - ODA in Albanian used for space for welcoming and meeting people.

WeseektobringBroadway1633backtoitsformerglory.Our proposal honours the legacy the tower represents while adaptingitandconvertingittoourneedsofthe21stcentury.
Thus we intend to not only preserve, re-use and technologically update all that we can of the former legendary building but also ensure its longevity by introducing amix of uses into the former mono-functional office block which are reflected in the facade. Affordable housing, home offices, but also rented offices and other amenities ensure that 1633 Broadway will live beyond 9-5, same as we do.
The time is ripe to create our future, anew way of living and working, to develop functional neighbourhoods that could fit into one skyscraper.
We must start inventing new hybrid typologies with soft borders that can fit our current needs and evolve in time. We should be adapting our existing buildings to new uses and, simultaneously, try to preserve our heritage for generations to come.

Heart Squared was the winning entry in the 2020 Times Square Heart Design Competition, organized by Times Square Arts and curated by the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
Designed to celebrate love and diversity, Heart Squared evokes an abstracted anatomical heart formed by an open steel lattice. A cloud of air, steel, and mirrors, it draws visitors to walk around it
A heart shape is revealed when viewers find a “sweet spot” from which a large pixelated heart appears, surrounded by a field of reflected sky.
In one of the world’s busiest public spaces, day or night, it is possible to connect to nature. Heart Squared is always changing with its surroundings as it reflects anyone who engages with it, videos from the billboards, and the weather in the skies above.

Subject: Recommendation for Jiri Vala
To whom it may concern:
I am writing to recommend without hesitation Jiri Vala for employment in your practice. I am a founding director of MODU, a New York based architecture practice. Jiri worked with us for a one-year internship from November 2018 to November 2019. During his employment, he quickly exceeded our expectations for an intern and assumed the role of a junior designer faster than other employees.
At MODU, Jiri worked on projects of various scales and demonstrated the dedication and self-organization to work at each scale at a high level. He also worked on different phases of design, from concept design to construction documents, and learned the work required for each phase. During the year, Jiri worked on competitions for affordable housing and a public installation as well as the design and documentation for a loft renovation and urban revitalization initiative. While working on the competitions, he was able to conceptualize clear ideas with equal sensitivity as when he developed construction details for an interior renovation. Throughout his work, he exhibited a natural design talent and unique ability to develop design direction that was both thoughtful and fresh.
His work on a public installation in New York’s Times Square was very important to our competition win. After we won, he continued working on the project through its development and early fabrication phases and gained valuable experience translating ideas into reality. In all phases, he remained focused and dedicated to his work while providing intelligent insights on the design as it developed.
Jiri was also a pleasure to have in the office. He is personable and worked easily with everyone on our teams. I am sure that he would be a great addition to your practice. For all these reasons, I recommend Jiri without hesitation as I know that he will continue to grow rapidly as a young architect and contribute to any practice.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. I can be reached directly at phu@MODUarchitecture.com.
Best Regards,
Phu
